Here is my scenario. I take my Xbox One into my work, which does not have Wifi or any internet access (work firewall will not let Xbox connect to Live). My coworkers and I have down-time every now and then and like to play 4 player split-screen. Here are the 2 scenarios that we always run into, and we cannot for the life of us figure out an easier way to get this working. All we want to do is be able to create teams of 2v2.
Scenario 1: We all have our own profiles on the Xbox, we each had to make one with Microsoft accounts at my house because we needed an internet connection to create them. (Why in god’s name is it such a pain in the -Yoink- just to create non-live accounts on an Xbox One? On the 360 it was so easy and didn’t need a separate Microsoft account.) So when we go set up the game (remember, no internet connection) all 4 of us join the lobby, but it only lets one person, usually me, select my team color, and permanently makes the other 3 players on the opposite team, unable to chose their team and not letting me chose it. I also notice that we all have the crown next to our names (does this mean party leader?). OK here is the kicker. The workaround to make it able for us to pick to teams is that I have to quickly tether my phone to the Xbox to connect to Xbox Live, then viola, we are for some reason able to select our teams! The second I disconnect my tether, we are no longer able to? So what gives? I do not have unlimited tethering for my phone and this workaround seems ridiculous just for us to pick teams.
Scenario 2: I sign in (we are still offline) and we create guests to play so my gamertag is MikeNasty3 so this means there will be a MikeNasty3(1), MikeNasty3(2)…etc. The problem with this is we can never get all 3 guests to join the lobby at once and it usually only ends up getting 1 or 2 people in. This has to be a bug.
So what I am really wondering is am I doing something wrong? Is anyone else experiencing these issues? All we want to do is play offline 4 player split screen custom games, but the inability to switch each of our teams so we can play 2v2 is just maddening! if this is a bug it really seems like it should be an easy fix on 343’s end, and if it isn’t what can I do?
