Official statement from Ske7ch

This article has appeared. Youtubers are covering it. It seems to swing wildly from one side to the other. I’ll just post the link here if you are interested. I’m not really going to comment about it, other than it just seems to swing backwards and forwards. Put a h in front

You don’t even know his title and you still bothered to make an assumption based of your own cynicism?

Really?

I hope I don’t get matched with you in multiplayer.

Yes he’s the community manager, it was pretty bad PR to me.

Your talking to a guy named Griff… do you not see the irony there?

If he’s making statements to the community then obviously that’s related to his job. Pretty sure he’s not the 343 janitor if he’s doing that.

If you’re the person making statements to the community you shouldn’t:

  1. Be overly sensitive
  2. Understand some basic customer service communication skills

He’s not being sensitive and he’s been doing his job pretty well.

You just don’t like what he said and that’s fine. I’m not knocking you for being mad. I get it.

Just remember you’re talking to human beings. Who have feelings and do make mistakes like everyone else.

I disagree. He mentions several times about how he gets blasted from the community. Am I supposed to feel sorry for him? He’s community manager, his role is to act as the gateway between the company and the players. Of course this involves both positive and negative feedback. Right now there’s lots of negative feedback. If he doesn’t like feeling like a punching bag then he shouldn’t be in that role. That’s like a computer programmer complaining that they hate keyboards. If you hated keyboards you probably wouldn’t make a career choice that involved them.

His woe is me because everybody is mean to me attitude totally takes part of the focus off of the community and places it on himself. That’s like Customer Service 101. We don’t want to hear about your problems, we want you to hear about ours.

I’m not saying he’s a bad person. I’m saying he’s lacking some pretty basic professional qualities someone in that role should have.

I’m not sure that holds up.

First of all, as he acknowledges, it’s part of his job to act as insulation/meat shield between the customers and the studio (devs AND managment).

If he’s been directed to take this approach, that’s on his boss, and he’s doing his best under difficult circumstances. If he chose the approach, yeah no, this was a 'gunk’up. Some of the claims are shakey, and if you’ve been following Infinite for the last 18 months, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to feel like you’ve been lied to.

odd you mention 18 months because that’s the reported limit on their contractors via Microsoft…

You called him a tool. Mocked him and told him to grow some balls.

How does that not make someone feel like their a bad person?

He’s not a punching bag. He’s the community manager. Just because you don’t like the state this game is in doesn’t give you the right to be a jerk.

It’s a video game.

This is way beyond feeling like you’ve been lied to. People are just using him as a punching bag to vent out their frustration with the game.

Just look at this:

You think that’s necessary to get the point across?

Actually my main gripe was more about how he handled himself. Sure the game isn’t perfect but I was extremely disappointed in the community manager response. People without a pair and are tools are still people, they just probably shouldn’t be in certain roles. Doesn’t mean I don’t wish the guy a happy holidays.

I’m not here to judge the behavior of other users, I responded to a statement about the community manager.

That said, it may not be kind, but the criticism isn’t unfounded. The community is on fire, and “this is really hard on me/us” isn’t the play. This is like taking a job at the sewage treatment plant, then complaining about the doodoo smell.

Also, I would hope that a grown adult can stand to be called a “tool”, especially given what people will call any rando on Xbox live.

But they had to shut down reddit where here they have control of the comments…

Twitter is the most toxic place on the internet… here they can control ‘toxic’ comments though.

I didn’t say the criticism was unfounded. I’m saying the comments about the guy were harsh and unnecessary.

And trying to justify it by saying “it’s xbox live, get over it” doesn’t make people feel less crappy. That’s just an excuse.

I simply disagree that it’s overly harsh. I’m very much over side arguments over civility eclipsing the actual issue, it’s whataboutism.

Yeah. The lackluster multiplayer. We have probably tens of thousands of players letting them know about the multiplayer.

They’re much smarter than you give them credit for.
It’s hard to miss the millions of players giving feedback on the same thing.

I don’t see how being civil eclipses that.
