Personally while I don’t condone the language that some of the players use to voice their anger, tbf the criticism is 1000% justified. I’m sorry that 343’s ego can’t take that.
As a Software Engineer I get that all software including games have issues, it’s just the nature of development. However this post really raises more questions than answers. UI limitations means there’s a restricted list of playlists? Lol What? Who designed that? There’s also some questionable design decisions.
Also hiding behind “challenging times” (I.e covid) excuse isn’t going to fly anymore I’m afraid. Plenty of other game developers have made it through just fine. They’re just using that as a drop wall(pun intended) for damage control.
Campaign might be really really good. But as for Multiplayer I’ve uninstalled, too many issues and the predatory progression system(which is designed intentionally to be like that btw) is too much for me.

Some Reddit posts attacking the devs are extremely toxic and dehumanizing.
That being said the paywall for customization is my number 1 concern before anything else, 2nd is the progression system.
Everything else is minor tweaks that people are making mountains out of mole hills and creating a lot of noise out of minor fine detail BS
i’m fairly certain those people who are making the dehumanizing post are young kids who are new to halo besides Reddit and twitter are extremly toxic places to begin with. Also where’s your proof? i know reddit and twitter can be extremly toxic at times, but 343 needs to give proof and so should you, there are ways to post links here…

Battle royale is a terrible game mode and adding it only splits the population, that’s why most of the community doesn’t want it,
That’s just an opinion. Splits the population? If people want to play it then they will play it. Just like with any other game mode that you can say will split the population, you are taking away someone’s choice.
Additionally, most Halos start with about 8 playlists. This is the latest Halo and its ftp. Population won’t be a problem for a while.
Well why would they want to remove proof of their innocence?

If people want to play it, they should play other games, I’m not going on Doom forums to ask for gamemodes that don’t belong at all in a certain games
A battle royale mode would change halo’s gameplay too much, for example in almost any battle royale you have health and shields that don’t recharge, in this halo they both recharge automatically of course so you’d have to change something
Also every battle royale has many tiers of weapons ( green blue purple ecc) which halo never has and hopefully never will so you’d have to change a lot of the weapon system to make a battle royale mode work
Another thing, these player outlines which they added wouldn’t work in a battle royale either because having a red outline around you makes you spartan very bright, which makes it impossible to hide on the map like you can do in other battle royales
And lastly, this game was advertised as “classic” and “spiritual reboot” and “going back to its roots”, if 343 starts adding modern YOINK to this game all the fans which expected a classic experience will leave for sure
We got a modern expireince of a classic game modern in every way an AAA game can be today incomplete launch, crappy microtransations, paywalls… The works.

from what I remember you normally have 6-8 playlists in a halo game, halo 5 probably had less, but there always was a ffa, slayer, btb and obj playlists, often there was ranked and unraked of these, add a changing list of duos/trios, fiesta, BTB slayer and let’s not forget zombies, now we are looking at a typical selection of playlists and what most fans expect to be able to pick from.
Understatement of the year. Just goes to show how out of touch 343 really is. I’m not condoning the extremes some people are going but how does 343 not expect the bad reception? Playing the vicitim when they literally made all the problems everyone is facing. If they are that concerned about making money, just make it $60 with mp and campaign combined.
He might as well have said “don’t be mad we took out content/customisation to force you to pay for something that you had as part of the game for 20 years”

Lmao I don’t is what wrong with this community. Probably bunch of kids. They are against crossplay options, battle royal - like how does that affect you kids? just keep doing what you are doing.
How do you launch a new Halo game with multiplayer in this state. Combining Slayer isn’t the issue it’s the same 4 maps with the same 4 players with the same 4 game types.
You could literally make Ranked Team Doubles by modifying the function that controls team size. Team Triples in the same way. Spice things up without reinventing the wheel.
Also saying that the fans and players aren’t owed anything? They damn sure are when they’ve invested hours and hours of their time getting decent at the game waiting for new playlists and then you don’t have any, it’s like training for a new job and then finding out it’s nothing like it was advertised and having wasted your time learning the role in the first place. People likely feel misled.
I don’t care at all about Slayer but I’ve come here to try and figure out what’s going on as I loaded up the full game and there’s still the Beta only.
I don’t know how this sort of statement has been possible because it’s really worrying to read and sounds like nobody at 343 likes it but have had to make it anyway. People aren’t mad at the game they love the game, the gamplay etc… but they want playlists, Halo has always been Multiplayer heavy, so make playlists and everyones happy. Easy, you don’t have to split out Slayer or reinvent what you have to bring some diversity.
The only reason I don’t like these playlists is because you can play 10 games in a row without getting the mode you need. Does 343 think we have infinite time to play video games?
