Official statement from Ske7ch

My main problem here, is the believability of them saying that the Company has strived to create “the best player experience possible”…yet they’ve chosen to follow this model, which does exactly the opposite.

I get they want to generate revenue to keep the lights on etc etc…but having a model like this…is just a blatant piss-take, tbh.

Give people choice, rather than trying to strong-arm them into paying through the nose for any semblance of customisation. We get that money is driving this…just be honest and say that…and leave it there. Don’t then try and spin it another way because we know it’s blatantly not true. It’s insulting.

Summary

So it’s not purely malfeasance on the part of the suits who are presumably the ones making the monetization demands, it’s down to the sheer incompetence of 343 themselves that they can’t design a UI/UX that isn’t an absolute trainwreck.

Yes. At the end of the day, the suits’ main message is just “make us lots of money.” We can’t solely blame them for all the systems that 343 was responsible for building intelligently or not from scratch.

Wouldn’t they want a system that is easily workable, so if the suits say “not enough money!”, then 343 can reply “on the double!”

Summary

They would be the logical assumption. But since loads of people here are too busy being bootlickers for 343, they can’t see the simple truth. That truth being that 343 is a hot mess and likely one of the worst devs of the last decade

The thing that gets me the most about this is that they know most people just want to play slayer, and everyone just wants to play whatever game mode they feel like when they want to. But they intentionally designed the game around not letting you play what you want, when you want. Most likely in order to keep you grinding RNG based challenges longer. That just shows such a fundamental lack of respect for the player’s time that it’s kind of disgusting.

well at least they’re admitting the armor and cosmetics are all ripped from old games, costing them nothing to “make” and they’re just reselling them marked up thousands of times in a drip feed over the next few years.
worse than the game itself, 343s responses and “communications” have been disgusting and sucked all the hype out the game

translation? mission accomplished. no need for long time fans or returning players when we can replace them with new players who wont mind 1/10th the product at 500 times the price.

halo infinite will be the first halo game i wont get at the midnight release since 3. and looks like it will be the first halo game i dont get at all.

Yeah, you can definitely read that in his response.

I don’t know if I believe it. And that’s the rub. Trust.

Either some incredible errors were made, or some very intentional bad calls were made. I’m not sure which is worse.

But, until we’re given a timeline of what changes are happening when, and they hold to it, all you’ve got is the evidence of what we have now. Which adds up pretty poorly.

I’m not aiming for a tinfoil hat here, just pointing out that, presently, the equation is missing some elements. Or pointing towards certain conclusions.

I like how the game that is planned to last 10 years already has a limiting UI before it even launched lol.

Maybe the game needed a few more months/years development time.

And your confusion just shows how that post he made cleared up almost nothing for us. Lol. Great job!

I buy it completely. I don’t see a scroll bar on the matchmaking screen. Chances are when they get around to “overhauling” it, we’ll see some kind of dropdown box to pick our playlist from or something like that, kinda like we see in MCC (which also had a UI overhaul during its lifecycle)

I don’t think it really matters - in respect to how little is in this game. Unless big changes are made soon - this MP iteration will lose players ten fold by the end of the first season.

Personally I’m only interested in the ranked and I won’t be repeating it for season 2 if there’s only one playlist that houses four game types.

Every game they have made has been a train wreck.

We should all change our Spartan IDs to ZERO for zero tolerance to incompetence. and not purchase anything!

I posted this in another thread as I thought this thread was closed but turns out it was just temporarily closed.

Well, that was nice of him to at least say something but right off the bat, why would you not put this statement up on THE OFFICIAL HALO WEBSITE!!! Crap I’m tired of this!!! 343 you have to be one of the only companies that barely uses their official website  I understand there’s all sorts of social media but I’m sick and tired of having to go to other sources of social media just to get info when I should be able to get this info at the official Halo website!! I’m not saying don’t use other forms of social media but it should be put on here first and then everything else second. Honestly what is the point of having these forums if stuff doesn’t get announced here first?? Might as well close down the website and save yourself some money  I’m really just questioning why I even bother coming on these forms because we never get any information here first, it’s always Twitter or Reddick or someplace else before waypoint… It’s things like that that make people like me, who’ve been long time fans and been active on the forums since forever! say things like "see that’s a basic thing!!! why wouldn’t you do that!!! …but I digress here.

I’ll admit, I’ve said and yeah sometimes I do say things like “I’m generally perplexed as to why they would make a decision like this” or stuff like this, but I don’t feel like that’s attacking anyone. Now, there are people that do say some pretty nasty things and I agree that’s way out of line. Like Ske7ch says, I’d rather have people be a little upset which shows me they care and are passionate and then no one say anything at all though. Couldn’t agree more!

So yeah it was a great message and I agree with a lot of what he’s saying but some of it to me once again is well, who thought these were good decision to make challenges with things that involve stuff like win three stockpile games or capture the flag 10 times  for example… Then you’re lucky to get one in 20 plus hours??? You’re forcing people to play stuff which they don’t want to play!!! And by doing so in this case they don’t even play the objective which ruins the experience with people that actually are. So now you’re getting hit twice in the face because you have people that want to play objective playing with people that don’t want to play objective and you have people that are playing a mode just to complete a challenge that they don’t really want to play

Yes I agree that it’s better to have fewer playlists to keep them healthy but at the very beginning of launch you should have the opposite and see what the community wants!! Again, it’s who thought in there right mind that not having a slayer playlist on launch was a good idea?? It’s great that you have these other ideas of things you want to do with Slayer, amazing!!! Look forward to seeing them :slightly_smiling_face: but the Slayer playlist that people have known for 20 years should be in!! and If you want to make changes to it or evolve it over time then okay. It just seems like common sense to me! You don’t have to have every popular playlist at launch but people would expect something basic like Slayer to be there. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable expectation.

I can also say I understand that you made a system with the challenges and battle passes that evolve around certain playlists and whatnot so I understand that but AGAIN it comes back to how/why did you think this was a good idea??? You’re telling me in your countless hours of play testing because I know you guys have done it!! that people didn’t have a challenge like play three stockpile games and went hours and hours and didn’t even get one !!! Where myself and multiple people I know have gone hours and hours and not gotten a single game type of x challenge …like come on guys!!! You’re better than that!

I know you guys care and I know it’s hard to take criticism sometimes and can be difficult to hear. I totally understand this and I think the majority of people aren’t trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m glad you’re admitting that your progression/challenge system needs work, that’s good :+1: And I think anyone here that has half a brain totally realizes and understands that this is a business and you guys are here to make money. We get that, But when you take away basic things like colors!!! (Come on man it’s freaking colors!!!) And monetize them… that’s pretty bad to be blunt and that right there probably sent red flags to everyone. I definitely understand the whole x and y take a lot of work and you want to be rewarded for it (talking money here) better than most people as I have my own business and I’ve had it all my life, so I get it but you have to be within the market and the prices that you’re charging at the store for some of these armors compared to other games with similar things is outrageous to be blunt again. You would be far better off to just have every single piece of armor, weapon skins, trinkets whatever! available for single purchase buying at a reasonable price and go from there. If it means you have to maybe make them a bit cheaper off the bat to sell product, then you should because I guarantee you, you will make more money in the long run because of it.

So now I’m rambling a bit but it’s because I am passionate and I’ve been with this series since the first month it was out. In conclusion I appreciate you saying something, I understand people have worked hard for years to do X but when decisions are made that in my opinion and many others are clearly bad ones, like not having a slayer playlist in day one, well… What did you expect the reaction going to be from the community, honestly???

I hope things get worked out, I really do! And I’m sure they will :slightly_smiling_face: … but unfortunately I think you’re going to have to take a lot of hits here for a while because this launch I think is not going to be one of the better ones… At least when it comes to multiplayer that is. I hope your story hits it out of the park though :+1:

PS You and the team and people should take some credit and feel good that the majority of people anyways, seem to be loving and accepting the gameplay. That should be a big win after a lot of the controversy you had with Halo 5 and especially Halo 4, so feel good about that!!! Because it could be worse, you could have the majority of community yelling at you because they hate the gameplay style too :upside_down_face:

It’s mad how info is always on different platforms - but I think it’s strategy. It widens the audience - only halo fans come here. Reddit/Twitter etc will reach a bigger audience.

Clever really.

With all this bad publicity MS are probably rubbing there hands together. If it’s free like it is people will download it check what all the noise is about.

And guess what… it’s a bloody good game.

Yes!!! I’m glad someone else caught that! Lots of odd decisions for something to carry you through an entire generation.
