What they should have done:
Free to play: Small trial battle pass to give F2P players a taste and something to grind for. All armor in this pass goes to Mark VII.
Campaign purchasers receive an extra battle pass that contains armor for Mark VII and/or earnable Mark VII armor. There needs to be a decent amount of armor here to respect players purchasing the campaign because they’re not F2P at this point.
Monetize every pass other than the trial and campaign bonus one, but make it reasonable, not like the skimpy Heroes of Reach pass, something with actual substance.
Create a catalogue in the shop for more fun and unique coatings/skins, along with fun or cool armor. If theres already decent base content then slightly higher prices can be acceptable because it feels much more in the player’s control at this point.
-Also allow players to have basic armor paint control. Like c’mon…

The Halo Insiders gave friendly feedback to help make the game the best it could be before launch.
343 incorporated almost none of that feedback.
Now, they’re hearing the same feedback from the wider community. That feedback is getting louder and angrier because the silence and “fixes” being offered show that 343 still isn’t really listening.

What @FighterPrime mentioned. This is true. They had flights before the “beta” and it was all addressed then. Instead of focusing on those concerns, they decided to push the game out to market the 20th Anniversary of Halo. The wrong move, in my opinion, but a strategic one. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you loose.
Gotta be honest you’re projecting this ‘bratty’ thing onto him but it’s really you seeming unhinged right now. Just sayin from an outsider viewpoint. You should calm down.

well with this much toxicity here I kinda need to go unhinged to let it out
except in apex you can buy them with ingame earned currency and basic recolours like “normal -Yoink!- red” are so cheap theyre basically free.

Im developing software since more than 30 years. Yes, im old and still playing on a xbox console and love halo.
So from the developers view Ske7ch described exactly the problem of a complex system. Once it is build and running, every change takes time and has to tested.
This is not an excuse, its simply the truth: “Changes need time”.
Still, separated playlists for “slayer” and “objective” had to be available since day one. Im pretty sure that a slayer playlist is much more populated as an objective playlist, but i am one of the player who loves “objective” playlist and im sure, im not the only one.
What i dont get, why did Ske7ch post it in the reddit forum and not here in halo waypoint forum?
That said: Thank you very much for your honest post Ske7ch

I think 343 forgets capitalism is a mutual transaction you might get the player base once but after they are aware of the predatory scheme they wont come back

I was beginning to wonder if the whole not splitting player base was more not splitting across servers.
I wonder if playlists would get dedicated servers which means server split and balances for playlists are also something they need to work around.
I can imagine if a playlist (and therefore a server) doesn’t have enough players MS would say that server is costing them money.
ah an opinion of a dev that speaks form experience thank you for providing some info on this

No, i dont think that each playlists has its own server.
Its more the thought that they wanted to keep the playerbase together.
The bigger the playerbase on one playlist is the faster a match is populated.
But they did not take player preferences in their calculation. The result, lot of player just quit if its an objective match on quickplay and they dont have a challenge to complete.
did you read or just read a word and nodded off
I mean in his defense the response is still the same excuses from ,343 and they decided to put it in the reddit forum instead of waypoint lol

sigh… I really REALLY hate to be that guy, but actions speak louder than words ever will… and 343i has spoken with their actions loud and clear, fooling me and many other fans in all these years… i’ve given them the BotD and chance after chance, but again and again, trust was betrayed and as a long standing Halo fan, not once, not twice, but three FREAKING times they screwed up a major launch with the same mistakes and I just cannot see this post by sketch as anything but lip service and crocodile tears…
The way that the BP, store and challenges are structured work WAY too well for it to not have been created to be deliberately predatory of a persons time and patience (and it’s frankly WAY too convenient for me to believe they genuinely cannot fix the challenge issue before the holidays are over, considering how many people would have probably maxed out the BP by paying and that would leave a lot of money on the table if they fixed it before…), and worse yet is the customs not working which would have at least alleviated a bit of the frustrations of the lack of playlists for people to blow off steam with their friends, but no, we couldn’t even get that…
Microsoft, 343i… I don’t entirely know who to blame for this so I just hold them both in contempt at this point, and if 343i genuinely expect me to once again wait 4 years for Halo Infinite to be a bug free, feature complete experience like MCC and Halo 5 were eventually, then I am afraid I will not be opening my wallet anymore for Future Battle Passes or any store cosmetics, nor will I wear the Unlocks as a form of protesting this egregious system, the last thing I will spend my money on is the Campaign and only because it is finally going back to the kind of Halo Story/campaign I expect…
I been burned long enough, no more sympathy or chances… it’s do or die time…

Devils advocate take?
What a bunch of malarkey
And this is the official new forum, where everything halo is gathered into a “waypoint”
No post?

Have you considered just skimming past garbage comments??
It’s surprising how little this has been mentioned: brand loyalty. Obviously the notion of brand loyalty is antiquated across many domains in contemporary society, but it was a MAJOR aspect to customer relations for decades. For long time Halo fans, brand loyalty is the currency that 343i is trading on and they completely spent all of it down the drain with the predatory monetization that’s been shoehorned into Halo Infinite.

but it is believable because it’s 343. why anyone would would think differently is beyond me.
This happened in the old Waypoint also. No communication with a Community Manager except with Reddit.
