Hello. I am seeking clarification on the rule set that individuals are expected to follow while in costume in an official capacity as representatives of 343i/Microsoft, when they are requested to appear in said capacity by representatives of 343i/Microsoft at an event such as a release party or convention.
I have found a list of “Spartan’ Rules” that are supposed to detail these rules that persons appearing in an official capacity in costume are supposed to follow, but aside from general conduct, ie no tea bagging, no assassination poses, etc., most of the other rules are specific to individuals costuming UNSC forces, ie Spartans shall not remove their helmets in public. I am working on a build of a costume that is of a covenant force (Yanme’e), and was wondering if there were any covenant specific rules that one would be required to follow in such mentioned official capacity.
For clarification, the most current set of ‘Spartan’ Rules (those mentioned above) that I have seen is:
•Act in a professional and ‘Spartan’ manner
•No overly aggressive poses.
•No submissive poses
•No “Victory Crouching”/Teabagging
•No pointing guns at fans, ‘assassination’ photos, hostage photos, etc. Tasteful pictures only.
•Spartans may NOT remove their helmet. Spartans must exit the official area if they require a break. ODSTs and Marines are allowed to remove helmets.
•When backstage at a panel, lights must be turned off or covered and noise devices disabled so as not to distract from the panel.
•Do not harass special guests.
Also, is this a complete list of the rules, or is the above list missing any?
Thank you for any clarifications that you can make on this issue, and thank you for your time in reading and responding to this issue.
I would also like to note that I have attempted to go through normal contact resources, and have been redirected to this forum.
I don’t think there are for Covies, seeing as you hardly ever see Covie Cosplay!
I’d say, act like a drone! Be really jittery and hyper in your movements, scuttle about, jump around to mimic the short bursts of flight.
I’m not saying hang from the ceiling and shoot people, but just, embody the bug
I’d love to see a pic of it when it is done! Yanme’e are one of my favourite!

Much as I supposed. Of course I’ll share photos once completed. For non unsc forces, the Yanme’e are by far the most interesting. If you think about it, they only appear a few brief times, and yet quite a lot of information is known about them for that small time. I’ve noticed the lack in covenant cosplays, I’ve seen a few sangheili and a few unggoy, and 2 kig-yar, and there are two mgalekgolos being made, but other than those few, it is barren.
at this point, I have the right hand and forearm separated out and ready to be made, just waiting on some paper so I can edit the model some more and adjust sizing. As you might have guessed, I’m a member of the 405th, and my slow progress thread can be found at http://www.405th.com/f21/yanmee-progress-severely-under-work-38623/ there are a couple of pics of the 3d model (for the record, it is a fan created model) there at the moment. I need to get into better shape before I can wear the costume even if it was completed, but I am working in that. I really wanted to have it completed by the release of halo 5, but it’s looking like it will likely be done before halo 6 with me fitting in it.
I still would like some official input from Microsoft and 343’s end.
