Official GrifBall Betrayal Boot Thread

–Mods Please Redirect Threads About Grifball Booting Here–

After the release of Grifball it has become apparent many players are getting the boot and losing out on RP, XP and even play time due to betrayal boots and bans from the game.

Please use this Megathread as a way to let 343i know that we do NOT like this and wish for Grifball to be a more social, relaxing gametype in Halo 5 where the fear of getting booted will not hinder our fun.

Idle Boots and JIP should be necessary to keep a full lobby of players.

Playing Grifball without betraying is harder than beating the campaign in Legendary. If 343 is not deactivating friendly fire, the least they could do is offer a commendation for not betraying any companion.

thats the most rational thing i have heard all day

I think there should still be some betrayal rules, as nobody wants a troll on their team. But they should definitely be more lenient as Grifball is going to get a lot of accidental betraying.

The solution is to remove betrayal booting, removing friendly fire completely would ruin the gametype.

That’s not a bad idea.

Actually its the reverse, friendly fire needs to be taken out; if you took out booting but kept friendly fire then people could purposely betray their teammates all they want, theres alot of people out there who get a kick out of it. Friendly fire needs to go, I don’t have alot yet but over 90 percent of my betrayals are because I go to swing at a guy when no one was around just to have someone lunge in out of nowhere. It’s a small area with 8 people swinging gravity hammers, friendly fire is a terrible idea.

just because you put official in the title doesn’t make it the authority…especially since this is like the 8th thread Ive seen…343i knows about it and are in the process of fixing it now along with a couple issues with torque

Sources for this information?

In regards to the thread I think booting should definitely be taken out, luckily I haven’t had it happen to me yet but it’s a chaotic gametype and betrayals do happen. Most people are probably rational and intelligent enough to understand this and don’t boot their teammates. Perhaps 343 could just increase the necessary amount of betrayals to 4 or 5 that way if somebody is trolling they can be booted.

Nah, he’s right. How many halo griffballs had friendly fire off? Remove friendly fire and it literally changes the game and how it’s meant to be played. Id rather deal with -yoinks- who purposely betray than have one of my favorite game types ruined due to friendly fire being turned off.

remove friendly fire and you’ll see people boosting to score and many people using tactics to hammer jump in the air and across the maps. With friendly fire on, at least people need to think before they act.

How about making it be ricochet friendly-fire Grifball?

> Hey! Thanks for pointing this out. Already got a few threads going with the team to look into betrayal thresholds, etc. Will keep you posted with any relevant updates! @bravo343

you really dont know how things work around here do you?

i took initiative to prevent the first 30 threads you see say something along the lines of “grifball derp bans derp”

plus when you are on first name terms with some of the mods (the name is doodle, snicker doodle. but i dont recommend calling her Snickers because thats just a completely different snack, but i digress) Kappa it helps keep the forums orderly

i dont remember being banned or booted in H4 or Reach for a -Yoink- teammate running in front of me as i swing

Actually people already get boosted into scoring, alot of times by the enemy by accident so with or without friendly fire it is going to happen. I would rather deal with that problem since it’s there regardless, then have someone sit at my team’s spawn point and betray us because it makes him giggle and he can’t get kicked. Friendly fire and no booting is nonsense.

Except it isnt, I played several matches yesterday and only got booted once.

Pro tip, be aware of your sorroundings and dont smash/sword like crazy, its really that easy.

Why on earth would you guys want betrayal booting off? you knwo what would happen if it was taken off right? how about teammates purposely betraying you over and over and over and over without any repercussions? like in past Halos?

I had this happen to me yesterday, a teammate was out to betray me over and over again just for fun, I promtly booted him when the option was given.

I bet if betrayal booting was removed we would see threads of people crying on how they were trolled and couldnt boot their betrayer.

yeah I agree, they should turn off friendly fire or at least make it to where you cant betrayal boot.

there are 10x more people willing to play correctly than the sphincters who just go to kill teammates

from my groups exp last night your teammates have the option to boot you. one game we had a random who booted one of us for accidnetly killing him, and then once we had a full party a betray message came up asking and obvious we said no being a full party
