Official: Casual & Competitive playlists

Hello fellow halo players!

I’d like to address a feature that was in previous halo’s which I believe to be only beneficial, with no drawbacks to offer. What I’m talking about is having playlists organized into casual & competitive categories, just like the previous “social & ranked” playlists in halo 3.

For people who don’t know what this is; The difference between the two playlists is how players are matched up. In a casual setting/playlists, players of all skill ranges are matched, allowing for a relaxed & casual game environment where players aren’t forced to play their very best every game.
On the flip side, Competitive or “ranked” playlists use the true skill system to match players with others of equal skill, creating that competitive and tense game environment for those who enjoy it.

Often times you just want to kick back and play with people who’s primary motive isn’t to stomp and destroy the team as if it were some pro circuit. I’ve read many times on the forums that people don’t want to be matched with “try hards” and that often their matches are too intense either because players on their team force them to play better or severely discourage/insult them for playing poorly.

The idea of “social and ranked” playlists which halo 3 had gave a place for those 2 groups of people. I personally love to play competitively, and play to win. As a result I generally expect my teammates to play well. With that being said it gets frustrating when someone who is just running around, playing not to win but for their own idea/vision of “fun”, loses the game for the entire team by having a very poor K/D ratio. There should be a place for people who wish to just relax, kick back and enjoy playing without having the responsibility of playing top notch, and those who go into matches playing their best expecting to win every match. I love to kick back and play “social/casual” when im having an off day (happens often nowadays)

With CSR’s implementation just around the corner, I believe this to be an absolutely necessary addition to the game. It was a fantastic idea, that allowed people to play their play style without being punished for it by the community. I see no reason as to why it was removed in the first place.

What are you thoughts & opinions? Would you like to see the return of “social & ranked” playlists?
Favorite & thanks if you’d like to see this feature return in H4. Who knows, maybe 343 will see it and take action.

Thanks for the long read

I thought TrueSkill was already in the game but just invisible.

Of course, though with current population numbers it will be much more difficult to find a game

I predict they will not add said playlists, they feel like top dogs dictating every move they make, and they don’t cater to most players. Hell they don’t listen to anybody. They probably get a 10 year old son of theirs to tell them what would be a cool addition to halo, seriously though.

I think this is a great idea for Halo 4. I think this system worked quite well in Halo 3 and most people where happy with it, so I think it would work well in Halo 4.

I think they should, but I doubt they will. 343 seem to have their own agenda that they refuse to deviate from despite what the players ask for. If they only put this CSR on Waypoint instead of in game it’ll be so annoying.

I cant imagine having CSR without this

It doesn’t work.

My thoughts.

You clearly lack an understanding of what “Official” means, next year I will buy everyone on waypoint a dictionary.

My problem with that is that people go into Social Playlists with the intention of winning, you would still need to match people up against their equals, Halo 3 did. After ranking up it was a rare occurrence that I would be partied with a Sargent. My main gripe with Halo 4 is that alot of it is unbalanced, I don’t want anything they add into the game to be as equally unfair

you sir have the right idea. listen up 343
