Off Duty Covenant PLZ

These moments were either completely missing or lacking in Reach and H4.

I am talking about AI enemies, like grunts sleeping. Another example are Elites and Jackals that are prowling the area and scouting for any danger. The diversity in being stealthy has left these recent games. All the AI just know you are there and are always ready to fight. There seems to be no surveillance in the enemies.

I really miss these rather quiet moments.

Don’t forget the Brute taking a wiz in Halo 3.

To be fair in Halo Reach the Covenant were mounting a full scale invasion. Previous Halo’s the only time you saw Covenant off Duty was when you were deep in their controlled territory.

Halo Reach didn’t have much time to establish borders same for Halo 4 Campaign.

Just to clear things up, i totally agree with your post. I just wanted to add a bit of clarity.

My favourite moment like these was during Halo 3: ODST; I saw a Brute standing with his arms crossed overlooking a large group of sleeping grunts. I back smacked every single one of them, including the Brute. Killed them all without a shot fired, it was very satisfying.

Yeah I understand what you’re saying. I was thinking about the situations each game presented and that it wouldn’t make sense in some cases, mainly for Grunts taking a nap when danger is obviously afoot, but I also think there is always room for stealth improvement.

I didn’t look at it that way, about being deep in enemy territory. I guess they never expected Chief to be there unless someone could sound an alarm. I think it would be cool if there was a small objective to kill the “Alarm Elite” before everyone in the level wakes up (there doesn’t have to be one present all the time).

I was playing CEA the other day and I was sneaking around in a room and I took out every Elite and Grunt with a stealthy backsmack. They never knew I was there.

I would like more places in the future games to sneak around and avoid heated engagements.

Exactly or why can’t we have a moment like this happen in Halo 4. The Knights in this video had no clue Chief was nearby. An awesome part may I say.

I loved these moments. They actually made the Covenant feel alive, and it was always fun to either stealth your way through or to jump in, guns blazing to “startle” the Grunts. Let’s hope for some sleepers in Guardians.

Kind of like that part in Truth and Reconciliation (CE/CEA) where Cortana places a waypoint on a grunt making a run for a turret?

Mm, I don’t remember that at all. She did that just because he was getting on Turret? Yeah, a waypoint on the alerter would do.

@ProFitofKiLLz
That brute seemed to be enjoying himself a little too much. I always felt a tad of guilt after back-whacking him; like I should have let him finish?

Completely agree with this! Increase the variety of fighting within the campaign levels, it was great in CE where you could see how many sleeping grunts you could whack before an elite rose the alarm :stuck_out_tongue:

On a related note, please 343, get rid of the “press button” animation that you used for absolutely everything in the Halo 4 campaign!!! I swear it must have happened over 100 times during the campaign and became boring after the first mission. Its monotonous, uninventive and just screams “out of ideas”. But that’s just my opinion.

Non-hostile aliens would be a nice touch. I imagine the Chief coming into a room full of Stormies and killing everything, as is the Chiefly way, but there’s, like, one Kig-yar weapons dealer or mob boss or something just sitting at a desk and glaring. Then he’d be like, “I got chicks to feed, you -Yoink-.”

I hate when enemies automatically see you in games. I like the stealth option in situations it makes sense.

Haha, that would be an interesting situation. Halo has been lacking in the humorous Covenant, especially since they haven’t spoken English for some time. I couldn’t possibly shoot such an innocent Jackal after that, could I? O_o

i miss the old AI in general. seriously, maybe its the combination of enemies, or just me, but legendary engagements on reach were wayyy more difficult than in h4. and a lot of it has to do with how the elites act and react. enemies are simply not as aggressive in h4—hoping this changes
