As we all should know, the recent gamespot article confirmed the legendary mythic to be Jorges turret/chaingun/whatever you call it.
I ask why?
I assume it will function as an in-between niche for the SAW and regular Chain Turret with some sort of addition boost, but whats the point? Reach contained so many other and, in my opinion, better weapons to add into Halo 5. For example:
The Grenade Launcher: one of the most unique weapons to ever exist in the Halo sandbox. It could have made a tremendous comeback in Halo 5, although I suppose the Plasma caster could be considered similar. - The Reach DMR: Give the DMR the same treatment the Halo 2 BR got. Same look and firing sound, just no bloom please. - Focus Rifle: The microwave gun may have sucked, but its still more unique than a turret. - Concussion Rifle: Could have been an excellent throwback to both Reach and Halo 4. - I would say the Needle Rifle, but we have the Blood of Suban (not the same I know, but its similar enough to give reason to not add the Needle Rifle). - Plasma Launcher: could be redundant considering the Hydra Launcher, but still more unique than a turret.I know many of you are pumped about the addition of Jorge’s turret thing and you have every right to be. I’m just saying I like more marshmallows in my Lucky Charms, yknow?
Since we already have the ONI Chaingun with exploding rounds I’m just curious what advantage this weapon is going to have? I would say I’m more curious than excited about it. I think I have like 100 ONI Chainguns and I rarely use them because I would like to move around a little faster than a half mile an hour.
Maybe that’s it? Maybe it gives you a speed boost? Or a damage boost? We shall see.
Because the game already has turrets so all they had to do was reskin it, change the audio, and tweak the damage numbers. All relatively easy things to do in terms of development.
Adding weapons that don’t exist with brand new physics and damage algorithms takes a lot more time and resources. Hence, no truly new weapons or vehicles. Why do you think we get so many new weapon skins in each new release. Do you really think that they believe the community wants more skins? No. But it’s the cheapest, easiest crap to put out. Just some jpegs. So you ask for steak and you get McDonalds.

Given those facts, it still begs the same question. The Reach DMR and Plasma Launcher are very feasible in that sense. I’m curious as to why 343 thought we wanted another chaingun instead of something we know and love.

Can people stop asking for the Reach DMR (and AR)? They would both be worse than their current versions in Halo 5 because of bloom. Outside of that one different, there’s nothing else different about the DMR and AR in Reach & 5. The H2 BR and CE Magnum are very different from their current versions present in Halo 5.

Technically I’m not asking for it, I’m just considering other options. I could be wrong but I believe that the H2 BR is also technically worse that the default Halo 5 BR.

Yes and no. Faster fire rate, less recoil, and increased aim assist on the H2 BR. They are almost the same when it comes to kill time though.

But the reach AR was the first one to actually sound good

According to weapon comparison videos the H2 BR kills almost a full second faster which is ridiculous

Huh, thought it was the other way around. I digress.
They’re doing a throwback to Reach, so it makes sense to display Jorge’s armor with the turret at no point in the article do they say “btw the legendary mythic req is the turret” do you people not understand what confirmed means? Because until 343 comes out and says it all you guys are doing is getting butt hurt over speculation.

i think its because it will be a turret with either overshield speed buff or both. you know a turret people will actually use since they are all useless, i can finally relive my hopes of using that beast weapon.

Not butt hurt, just questioning reasons and comparing ideas.
Those images are clearly in game screenshots from Halo 5.

I don’t know much about the testing, but what I do know is I do wayyyyy better with my H2BR even without scope attachments. That rifle is a smooth, death machine. But back on topic:
It was an iconic Reach character weapon that could easily fit into the current sandbox, so turret it is.
