ODTS DLC for Free???

Hi there everyone! Long time no see.
I recently managed to get my hands onto a physical copy of Xbox 360 Halo 3 ODST. While scanning the internet hoping that it would ALSO unlock it’s MCC version I read an article on Halopedia:

> Dal 30 maggio 2015 è possibile scaricare, in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, un DLC contenente la campagna rimasterizzata del gioco, con grafica a 1080p e 60 fps. Il DLC sarà gratuito per coloro che hanno acquistato la Collection prima del 19 dicembre 2014, mentre per gli altri sarà acquistabile nello store di Xbox One a 4,99 €.

I am Italian, so I’m gonna translate the important part:
[…] The DLC will be free for all those who bought the Collection before December 19th 2014 […]
Is it true?
If not, it’s no big deal, I will buy it later. But, since I preordered it on September 8th 2014, I’m kinda curious

You need to have logged into MCC before December 14, 2014. If you did, you received a message from Xbox Live in June 2015 containing a code that can be used to download ODST.

If you don’t have any emails or messages from Xbox containing a download code you won’t get ODST for free. It has nothing to do with having a copy of the disc.

MCC was pretty broken on launch. A lot of unhappy people with game breaking glitches, saves disappearing, achievements not unlocking and matchmaking crashing. As an olive branch to those sticking it out, they gave ODST for free if you played earlier.

Why did you thinking buying a 360 version would also unlock the xb1 version?

Either way mcc ODST is i think 4.99 to buy

Buying Halo 3: ODST on the Xbox 360 won’t unlock the MCC version for free, both are entirely separate from each other.

That’s referring to the people who played MCC during launch period which was infamous due to the game being a huge mess to play with. Even if you did play MCC before December 19th 2014, I don’t think you can contact Microsoft support about this as they folded this over 3 years ago.

I see posts like this all the time… Why do people assume that they should get ODST or Reach free just because they have the 360 disc?

Entitlement at its finest.

That said, ODST was free to those who dealt with the disasterous MCC launch back in 2014. Anyone after December that year I believe have to pay for it (it’s $5)

I don’t think this was a case of entitlement, but just more of a misunderstanding than anything else.
