Someone asked about Buck and Arbiter being in Halo 4, and Frankie basically said yes, and that Halo 4 would tie into Glasslands. I don’t know if he meant there would be ODSTs and Elites in Halo 4 or if the story of Halo 4 would refer back to them.
First off, you probably won’t be seeing such familiar characters such as Buck and Arby, but that doesn’t mean they won’t “appear”.
A while back at a 343i panel/press release (something, I don’t really remember), they said that if you have read books such as Cryptum and Glasslands you will pick up on little hints during the story, kind of like inside jokes. If you’ve read the books you’ll understand what they’re talking about but they don’t play a very large role (mainly so people who haven’t read the books still understand the story).
Yeah, I can understand that, and that’s kind of what I figured would happen, it’s just someone asked if the story of Buck and Arbiter would be continued throughout the Halo series, and Frankie answered yes, but what he meant by ‘Halo series’ was unclear to me I guess. Does he mean in the books, like Glasslands, the Reclaimer Trilogy, or anything? I guess I just kind of took it that ODSTs and Elites were confirmed in Halo 4, but I know they wouldn’t disclose something like that.
Ok I know everyone has there own ideas on it but i dont think Elites are gonna be part of it. However, I do think that Arbbey will be in Halo 4 but not with the Master Cheif. Instead we get to play him on his home world or something.
Now the thought of the UNSC being there i do believe. I just got done with Halo Wars on Ledgendary and if you remeber what the A.I. says to the captain in thee ledgendary ending she said “Captain…Somethings happened…”
I believe the Spirit of Fire is going to be a part in this role with the cheif. But they cant return home, yet, because everyone knows that it has no slipspace drive due to them blowing up that planet and destroying the Forerunner super fleet that was used in the time of the flood.
I’m doing a full write up on this for a forum topic, however my thoughts are Halo 4 will most likely be like Halo 2.
I believe that John is in the past, there are many reasons for this, from things in Halo games to the books, to other canon, that lends itself to this idea.
BUT I also believe that we will see the Halo U from the eyes of the survivors, be it S3’s or ODST, or Elites. I believe that the first part Johns game-play will be more somber, alone, and truly alone before the end of Halo 4, remember Cortana is old, 7 years before she loses it. She was already at that door way when Halo 3 started. John had been out for a undisclosed but VERY important period of time. It would not surprise me in the least if the Human side of John that we see brought out, is because he loses her. In an odd way they, have this “thing” I wouldn’t call it Love, not in the same way that I love my wife. But something more along the lines of for so long not only have they been with one another, but have been the only contact with another person/being the other has had, in life and in death situations. Are they “in love” no, do they care about one another in a way that would be hard to begin to understand, yeah. And I think were going to see that last vestment of Him striped away, in this new “lifeless” world, that hes abandoned on, and I think to a point it might start to break him. If you’ve read The Fall of Reach, you know how hard he took losing the other Spartans after the augmentation process. There’s a lot to John, and I think this is how it will play out. A deconstruction of John, WHY is he the Warrior we needed him to be, break that down, put him in a moment of crisis, but have him over come it and rebuild him, back to what his is, and who he is. And than, because its the only way we as Halo fans will ever find closer, send him out with one hell of a bang. * Light the Halos for the fist time, to stem the tide of the Flood and “Do what he’s done before.”*

Those are all interesting thoughts, but what makes you think it will be like Halo 2, and what do you mean by John is in the past?
