I personally think this is somewhat unlikely to be a feature in the game, but I’m curious how everyone would feel about ODST style flashbacks in Infinite. I could see this being interesting as a flashback to earlier in the war for Chief, an old mission that is relevant to the battle, could be interesting.
I could also see it being a whole structure for the campaign, and would have loved it as a way to integrate legacy characters etc. into the game, a way to transition from exploring as Chief to some linear missions.
Imagine that you’re walking through a gully and you find Linda’s sniper, Norfang, sitting in an empty creekbed. You hit a flashback and play as Linda, sniping her way alone along the gully. She has to abandon her rifle and is pursued into a system of tunnels. Then you flash back to Chief and you can explore deeper into the tunnels to try to find her. Just a thought.

That sounds so cool!
I don’t think this is how the game will be, but I do agree that this idea is really cool.
DLC idea perhaps

Mmm, I like this. I can see many ways this could be incorporated into the game, especially because its open world
hmm not a bad idea idk if they will do that so we’ll see i really hope blue team is in the game would be a damn shame if they are split up again because of the backlash to 5
This is a good idea for a spin-off dlc story for Infinite. Let it form some prequel story leading up to the main campaign and/or even combine with memorable parts from the campaign.

blue team should at least be in reconnaissance mission for finding friendly troopers
I think the ‘flashback’ scenes were very unique to the ODST game and should stay there. I’d love to have another ODST game. Honestly 343i could go anywhere with the story given how H5 ended. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a mission with Blue Team that is based off of ‘Shadows of Reach’.
I think it’s a very cool idea. Thoses flashbacks could be secondary missions who don’t impact the game, contrary to Halo 3 ODST. Apparently, Halo Infinite will start after the UNSC lose against the Banished on Halo Zeta, the flashback could be in this perdiod. We could play the blue team, other spartans, marines, even the banished lol ! Thoses flashbacks could appear in DLC for the next ten years.

That was my thought exactly. If the game is starting after the battle is lost, then show things through flashbacks!
I’m pretty sure 343’s focus is on the ring itself, at least at launch.
I love this idea, I think it would have worked well in H5. Blue Team definitely got shafted in H5, and implementing a story telling device like this would have gone a long way towards building extended universe classic characters into likeable additions to the main franchise. As it was they were extremely forgettable. I saw some stuff floating around about Hunt the Truth, and I think flashbacks would have gone perfectly with that theme were they to have gone that route.
I can imagine some flashbacks appearing via terminals, cutscenes or maybe even those odd moments (similar to how Cortana and the Gravemind had with John in Halo 3) to show the previous battle on Installation 07 but I doubt we will have any extensive gameplay involvement. I can see flashbacks on the scale of Halo 3 ODST only being in another spin-off, maybe a seperate group trying to pull themselves together after that disasterous battle…like a Halo Infinite ODST where you focus on some who were out of John’s reach or fighting to survive during the time John was stranded in space before his recovery.
