I was considering this along side my previous post about the ODST being gradually transformed into Spartan IV units as the economic recovery from the Human-Covanant war picked up. What if the squad of ODST’s from H3:ODST were recruited into the Spartan IV program? I mean, they proved themselves in the Battle for New Mombasa, as well as all the other numerous campaigns they participated in… Dare was already a valuable asset for ONI in their Recon division, and Buck was already exemplary for being one of the few ODST to survive the entire length of the war. Other squad members had accomplished other campaigns in the war. So, could Rookie, Buck, Dare, Mickey, Dutch, and Romeo be cast members for Halo 4? Either as Spartans or ODST or otherwise?
Quite possibly, S4’s could end up being larger scale augmentations than we think.
And Buck is a HC War veteran.
The mission Dare had in New Mombasa was a ONI mission and most likely off the record but it could be possible as they brought back Virgil who helped them win the war (and light a cigar)
So we could see them again, I hope we do
I wouldn’t make that happen. I liked the HUMAN aspect of those characters. Turn them into Spartans and I think that might get lost.
If anything, at least make Buck one of them. Now that Sgt. Johnson is gone I think he can fit that character role pretty well. Not to mention, Nathan Fillion was there at E3.

It’s just a suit isn’t it? 343 said they’re trying to make Master Chief seem human, so why not being able to keep it that way for Buck’s squad?
Don’t really think there would be a huge downside, and it might bring some great encounters.

Interesting Idea… But the Spartan IV’s are still more human than the Spartan-II’s. I think that may be explored in Halo 4… The juxtaposition of the different Spartan groups (II, III, IV)…
I think that we may even see the characters from the Halo Glasslands and Onyx books…

NO, it’s not just a suit, the SPARTANS are Highly augmented genetically and technologically…

I don’t agree. Buck will still be Buck.
If he were any better, he would be a Spartan.

That’s why I said it might get lost. Frankly the rush to a whole new generation of Spartans worries me. It’s like 343 is saying “Only Spartans matter, screw the normal people who fought in the war.”

And yes, I was thinking the same thing! he was there possibly to drop a hint? He has already proven he can fit the smart -Yoink- sergeant role…

I thought the Spartan IV programme was just volunteer Humans in lightweight MJOLNIR suits. Maybe I was wrong, I’ll look it up.
EDIT: Aight, must have read it wrong the first time. But in this case, WHY IS THERE STILL FALL DAMAGE?
I agree that ODST’s would be the perfect candidates for Spartan IV’s but id rather those ODST’s in particular remain ODST’s. I dont see the need to mix the lore I respect them as they are. Just my opinion

That would be Romeo
“Oh, I get it, permission to speak! Smart–Yoink-…”

Well Spartan II’s and III’s were augmented but it was clearly stated at the end of Glasslands that ONI was going back to volunteers for the Spartan IV program, they will not be augmented they will just pick from the best of the best damn good soldiers.

Well, you are partly right
the S-IV’s modifications aren’t so severe and dangerous, and they have more refined augmentations… It’s more similar to the Spartan III’s with new technology

Marines don’t stand a chance. Good thing they realized that.
And I don’t think that their personalities would change heavily this far into a war.
Hell yes! I would love to see Buck’s team as 7ft tall -Yoink- kicking super soldiers, -Yoinking!- stuff up twice as well as they did when they were just ordinary humans, with ordinary armor. I can’t wait for Halo 4, i’m almost certain we will see Buck’s team back in Halo 4, maybe chief might even get to do a mission with the team of Spartans. But then again I assume we will just see Spartans and marines every where seeing as the Infinity is full of them.
“If he was any better…he’d be a Spartan” I hope we see Buck again, and Dutch, he was my favorite ODST. The whole squad will likely be in the game as Spartans, there would be nothing else for them to do in the UNSC, unless they wanted to be Marines.
> I wouldn’t make that happen. I liked the HUMAN aspect of those characters. Turn them into Spartans and I think that might get lost.
That depends on how well they treat the Spartans. They are capable of being Human like anyone else. I liked Jorge in Halo Reach for example, its just a shame we didn’t get to spend more time getting to know them. That’s my problem with Reach. It’s not that the Characters were bad, it’s just that we didn’t get the chance to get to know them better. We jumped from one mission to the next with no real meat in between.
343i seems to be interested in fleshing out their characters better. The Master Chief for example is going to be fleshed out and appear more Human in the next trilogy. If they could do this with the Spartan IVs then that would be great. Whoever our Multiplayer/Spartan Ops player is going to be, I hope they give him/her a backstory and personality. More Noble Six and less Rookie from ODST basically.
