My team and I keep disconnecting during the 4th set of ODST Firefight on Alpha Site Heroic while going for Vidmaster: Endure. Is this a known bug or something? We’ll have no lag the entire game and it will just randomly kick us out during the 4th set (with 40-50 lives remaining…). This has happened multiple times.
We are all playing from the east side of the US, we’re not in a party during the game, we appear offline so no one will message us, everyone has installed their ODST disk to the hard drive, all other sappers of bandwidth have been turned off by each person (laptops, etc), we trade hosts, we tried not stockpiling too many weapons in the Alpha Site elevator so there won’t be too many guns for the game to handle…
Hey man, I’m sorry about your luck. I don’t really have an explanation though…it’s not like the game is out to get you, or some guy behind a desk monitors your game and flips a switch fot lulz…just sounds like bad luck to me.
Only happened twice, right? Third time it the charm, I say.
just an idea but try to do it appearing online just put ur online statues to busy so u dnt get messages because its an achievment u need to be online for. but i dont really no just a geuss.
I think this happened to me a couple of times back in the day, but opening my NAT and directly wiring into my router seemed to eliminate the frequency of occurrence dramatically. You can also do a speed test to check your upstream/downstream bandwidth. Also, I believe part of it was who was host. It seemed to only happen when one certain person in our party was hosting the game.
So, I finally got the Vidmaster Endure achievement. For those who were having the same problem I was, it may very well be the people you are playing with. Through playing other firefight maps for the 200k achievements, I narrowed down who has the connection that drops at random times. Turns out though, that it was two of the guys who were in the original Endure party; this is why it seemed like it was a game issue. So after trying Endure with both of them, and then once with each of them by themselves, I tried it with neither of them and we successfully made it to the 5th set sans lag out.
One thing of note though, one of the guys who kept causing the lag out had a wireless connection while the rest of us had wired. Not sure if the other guy did too or not but if you’re having the same issue then try to have everyone wire directly to the router.

I’m horrified that anyone even tries to play with Wireless, especially a “competitive” title. Wireless is the last resort, perfect for watching the new or something on a laptop but gaming?
No way, especially host-dependent games like Halo.
Use Wired, you’ll get at least 2x better speed and no “drop outs”. Even if it takes a 30m internet-cable, do it. It’s still better then 2m wireless (100m is the minimum range for a measurable loss to take place in a wired connection, wireless is lossy at start).
Wired = no problems
