ODST in the Post-War Era and Halo 4

Ok, so after reading Halo: Glasslands and analyzing all the new Halo 4 data, I came up with a question: where will ODST’s come into play in the post war era? It seems that many of the surviving ODST would be inducted into the Spartan IV program, as its stated by Admiral Parangosky that S-IV are recruited from an adult candidate pool of special forces units (including s-III, ODST, and ONI Reconnaissance teams. I don’t know if the ODST will be completely gone or just “evolved” into spartans by the time of halo 4. I assume that this may be true and that marines are more advanced than before to fill the gap and utilize technologies that used to be more exclusive to special forces like ODST. So I guess what I’m trying to ask is what you guys think about this discrepancy? Will ODST be gone, evolved, or what?

No offense Spartan fans, but the mass integration of the Spartan-IVs really puts normal humans down a peg. The ODSTs were the best humans could be without being Spartans and with the Spartan-IVs…will they even be relevant?

Will anyone even…be human?

To be honest, ODST’s are “old news.”
They will continue to exist as a form of collecting SIV candidates, but even that philosophy may be quickly abandoned for genetic candidates to be short tracked to the SIV program.
Buck and the Rookie have earned their right to be SIV’s. As for the rest of the squad… Sure throw them in. Just don’t let them be majestic, there is nothing majestic about a team of super soldiers that is 3/4 FireFly and 1/4 Nathan Drake… I mean what have they ever done that is majestic???

That was the train of thought I was on as well. But I was thinking that the marines may actually get some augmentations because the tech would get cheaper. And most of the data about spartan program was declassified in 2553 by ONI, so that would make the BioMed data easy for corporations to mass produce…

one i cant see there being 1000s of spartan 4’s because there suits cause soooooooooooo much to make and they have just fought huge and long war so i cant see them having that kind of resource for that many spartans

No, they would have to be called Squad Badass

The suits for GEN2 were much less expensive than GEN1 Spartans

i understand that too BUTTTTTTTTT they are less expensive but they still dont have that kind of cash plus they need to remake there fleets that have been decimated by the covenant i still dont see a mass production of more than 1000 spartan 4’s atleast for now
halo 5 and 6 all bets are off

That’s what I thought, but apparently they can build a huge -Yoink- ship filled to the brim with Forerunner and Covenant tech so what’s stopping them now?

Yes, but they needed to rebuild everything and making a larger Spartan program to stimulate the economy, not to mention have thousands (like 5000 maybe?) to quell rebellions that were heating up and also to take down strategic targets in the covenant remnants as well

I think they were building the Infinity during the war and only recently finished it.

they have been working on it for 2 DECADES!!! they sunk there money into it years ago lol but you point is valid and there CAN be a -Yoink- ton of spartan 4’s but i honestly odst have proved themselves time and time again im certain they will stay along with spartan 4’s

yes it was built during the war… It was started in the 2530’s

You don’t need cash when you can demolish asteroids, suck them into your ship and refine the elements directly from the rubble you’ve collected.
For a crashed ship of said capabilities, just feed it what you can, it probably can fuse and split elements at “will” to create the resources required to heal itself.

Pretty convenient to be building a huge warship only for Forerunner tech to be prevalent at the war’s end.

Indeed

ODSTs are likely to show up. Even with all the UNSC’s advancements I would say it is unlikely that they would replace ODSTs with Spartans completely. Of the 17000 crew aboard the Infinity I imagine Spartans still take up a small percentage.

The UNSC is likely to need all the personnel it can get and they would still likely be able to field more ODSTs than they can Spartans. I’m pretty sure we have already seen ODSTs in Halo 4 screenshots and they look far more like ODSTs than Spartan IVs.

I feel like 343 is going to save the true campaign introduction of Spartan IVs for the games release. Seems like it would be odd to deploy a Spartan II, Spartan IVs and some random Marines.

I am hoping for an impressive intro to the Spartan IVs.
