343i and Halo community, as you may have noticed we’ve never had the ODST drop pods in forge before. This may be due to tech reasons, but I doubt it. I would like to see this implemented as a spawning option in Halo 4. Along with the ability to look around while you fall, akin to the opening cutscene of Halo 3: ODST. This could be used in conjunction with the instant respawn to make a few second drop that essentially has a respawn time that is nice to watch. It would also be cool just to see what poeple could make out of this if you added things like scripts to items, so people could make ships and what not. But, I digress. Long story short, I would really enjoy seeing the ODST pods in forge.
Inspiration for this this was me noticing you only drop ONCE in Halo 3: ODST, a game that is entirely focused on ODSTs.
With the right editing programs and forge creativity, you can create mock drop pods ala Halo 3 ODST. I’ve seen it done before on a Reach Machinima before.
It’s probably not the best example but it can be done like i said. Skip to 9:16
If it’s possible in Reach, who’s to say it can’t be possible in Halo 4? Creativity goes a long way…
I’d like to see ODST drop pods as scenery items at least. I once made a little obstacle course in Forge World where you start off in a little rectangular box that’s supposed to be a drop pod but looks nothing like one. The map was scattered with other little boxes containing weapons and ammunition. They’d also be nice for a post-battle map.
I Don’t think 343 would add some Drop Pods to Forge as much as people would want them to be. Insertion pods (elites) would of been good as well.

I would marry this concept right now if I could, but there would need to be a few other things in Halo 4 for this to work.
- SMG
- ODST style armor
- Drop Pod concept
1+2+3= Sick as hell gametype and hundreds of new machinimas!
LOVE IT!
They’re already adding something similar with weapon drops. Why not take it to the next level?

There had better be ODST armor in Halo 4. I’ve used it since Halo 3.

The inclusion of ODST and the return of Rouge helmet would be nice.

see how are we going to have awesome covi vs human machinima if 343 is taking out elites :’(

That’s where the new enemy class comes in.
I would love to see them as initial spawning points. Along with creating trajectory routes for them as they fall down, I think you should be able to crash pods into/off of mountains, trees, buildings, etc. This would add a lot more to the realism of the game and help blend MM and campaign more, since ODST drops have not been known to be completely ahem accurate.
In addition to them being initial spawning points, they could spawn AI ODSTs to help you out, or to fight you in custom games. They could also be implemented in Firefight or Spartan Ops to asist the player.
