I really enjoyed ODST, back when it was the newest Halo game. I didn’t have XBL at the time and played the firefight missions for 2-3 hours each, by myself. I found the campaign greatly fulfilling to play as someone less than a super soldier. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing as The Master Chief. It was just a nice change of pace to play as a character that was less strong (I know that sounds odd to some). I do hope they make another game similar to ODST in the future with more characters like that.
The whole tone, mood… vibe of the game, it just felt nice. Kind of sad, but not hopeless. Inspiring, yet not overwhelmingly proud in its demeanor. I liked the setting of it and how it separated into sub-stories of each member of the squad. It’s probably the least played of the Halo games and I do know why and the reason is very simple. People are afraid of the dark.
totally agree with you almost same story for me starting out offline and playing through all the missions solo…though i tend to play it like it’s a big firefight arena when i play co-op
Agreed. On top of all of that, I’ll never forget staying up all night with my friends, desperately trying to complete the Vidmaster challenges. I miss the past.
ODST was one of the best games. The feel and the ability to just see how they fought to survive during the HALO 2 combat behind Master Chief. It had shown that each person in the Halo universe plays a role in aiding Master Chief and that he isn’t doing it all as much as everyone like to think.
I like ODST too. Not played it all the way through and I’ve only played Firefight on the Reserve map. I wish they made all the customisation options like Reach has. I’d play it a lot more if so.
I’m about half way through the campaign on ODST & have enjoyed the game. I like that it’s different from the other Halo games. It is interesting seeing what goes on from different viewpoints. After I finish the campaign on Halo 3, I’ll probably work on finishing ODST.
Engine = Best. Gameplay= Best. Campaign is good, not the best though. No Multiplayer. Firefight is better than reach, but could do with improving. Customisation is not the best and the game is dark (lighting-wise). Overall, very good but a bit limited. Not the best. I think I had more fun times on reach
ODST was possible the most underrated game. It had such a excellent story and level design to boot, I loved just cruseing through the city in the night while it was raining…then too top it off, the Music was excellent beyond compare. Martin O’Donnell really outdid himself on that one.I cant say was crazy about the ending, but at the same time it did make since how it played out. The story wasnt as grandiose as the Master Chief does things, but had a little more down to earth (literally) feel, which kinda gave it that nice friendly feel.

not best but really surprisingly great! firefight was the best on odst rather then reach cuz you just didnt feel powerful enough to run out there guns blazing haha
