ODST Backward Compatible

Do you guys think we will ever get this? All i want is to play ODST Firefight.

I think it was Phil Spencer who said he wanted every first party title to be backwards compatible if possible. Halo Reach and Wars are BC already, I don’t see what’s taking them so long for H3 and ODST. I guess they are prioritizing other titles at the moment.

I really hope so. It would have made my achievement hunting a lot easier. What we got with the MCC is incomplete, bringing the 360 version over will fill the missing content.

If they have brought obscure games back I don’t see why they wouldn’t bring the other 4 Halo 360 games back.

343i might not want to because ODST’s campaign is DLC for the Master Chief Collection, although on the other hand they’re clearly very keen to wipe the MCC from existence, so maybe they would make ODST backwards compatible.

Because I know for a fact that on the image for BC, Halo 3 is barely peaking out in the banner ad. So there’s no reason why H3 shouldn’t be BC’d.

It was as well. - In this image you can see not only Halo 3, but also ODST (Behind Toy Soldiers and Halo Reach),
It’s also important to note that Backwards compatibility was announced a year after MCC’s release, so this promotional image was created with the knowledge that Halo 3, and ODST (as a DLC) where already available on the console through that means.

What seems to be happening with Backwards Compatibility, is a slower trickle of games rather than a large number at once. This allows for more emphasis to be put on each release. So I’d imagine, this year, considering the lack of H3A, both Halo 3 and ODST will be added as part of Halo 3’s handwave anniversary celebrations.
Possibly for free since Halo 3 has been free before.

Oh, and I do think people who still say they wont be added due to them being on MCC are just being dismissive, after all, Assassin’s Creed II and Revelations are on BC despite the Ezio Collection, as are all three Bioshock games despite the Bioshock Collection, so I wouldn’t rule out their release just because remastered versions are already present.

It’s really easy for them to do it. There probably lazy. I’d be…

You know, you make a great point with pointing out all of these great single titles that are backwards compatible, even with franchise collections being released. Another great reason why i have hopes in H3 being added is because not just solely because of 2006-7 nostalgia, but because this will majorly help increase the player count population greatly because as of right now, there’s only a maximum of nearly 1,200 people on the servers.

With ODST being part of the MCC, I don’t think making the original backwards compatible is high on 343i’s priority list. Same for Halo 3.

It’s not as simple as saying, “Make this BC now!” and it is. That’s not how the process works. At all.

It really, REALLY isn’t.

To add to Sam’s post above, here’s a note from Bill Stillwell about Backwards Compatibility

Not really because 343 has been proven to have absolutely no regard for what the fans like and want, and overall everything they do is a big disappointment, so it’s safe to say it won’t happen. Anyways isn’t deciding what becomes backwards compatible Microsoft’s part, not the developer of the game in question? If so we might have a chance, but of course Microsoft or 343 or whoever does the backwards compatible stuff is probably going to be ignorant and say , “oh, well they can already can play the game on xbox one, so why make it backwards compatible?”. I think the real question is why is 343 so incompetent to leave out half of the bleeping game when they added it to the mcc. I literally bought Halo 3 odst on the mcc for firefight but I was extremely disappointed to find that it was missing a core feature when I bought it. I think they should at least go on xbox store and make it obvious that it doesn’t come with firefight, or they can just do everyone a favor and just add firefight to the game. I don’t see what the problem is, if they can add banjo kazooie and all these other games on the backwards compatibility list , why can’t they add a game that is part of the series that is literally the only reason xbox still exists today. If it was such a drain on Microsoft’s resources and time, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have added the plethora of games on the backwards compatibility list that they already did.

If it was then every single game would be backwards compatible already.

snickerdoodle would know since she kind of works at Xbox. But please, continue speaking from thy cheeks.

But we have MCC…

It’s really, REALLY, not that easy

No offense to her , but just because she “kind of works at xbox” it doesn’t mean she has any idea how they do this stuff. 343 is the current creator of Halo and they obviously have no idea what they are doing. All I need to say is micro transactions, no split screen, no forge at launch, and dlc that is past game modes from past Halo games.

And you clearly have absolutely no clue how the process works but by all means, continue! (Also worth noting that you have no idea what I do at Xbox so you’re taking quite the risk in assuming I have no idea.)

Just know you are very, very wrong about everything you are saying.

So one game that is messed up when it’s created backwards compatible means the whole process is daunting and difficult? I have Fallout 3 , Gears of War 3 and Judgment,Just Cause 2 , Borderlands , and COD Black Ops, and they worked flawlessly when the became backwards compatible . Reach is no excuse.
