ODST assault rifle

So I was doing some testing of the ODST assault rifle vs the halo 3 one.

The halo wiki entry says the sound is different which is true, but it also says it is %50 weaker which in my limited testing I found to be not true.
Keep in mind, I only tested on grunt majors and minors on normal, but in halo 3 and ODST it takes 4-5 shots to kill a minor and 7-8 to kill a major. So unless it is only weaker against certain enemies or only gets weaker on higher difficulties compared to halo 3, I am calling this wiki entry false.

I wanted to ask here for any info before I tried submitting a correction/ asking for a reference I case I am missing something.

I know it’s silly, but I wanted to test because from a design standpoint it didn’t make a lot of sense to me.

The difference between shields and health is exaggerated in odst. Human weapons are really weak against shields and covie weapons are really weak against health. Basically the game kinda has the tilt skull on. If you test the ar on a brute you will see it does not work well until the shields are down. Same is true of the smg, but the smg was balanced for the game.

Thats how the weapon types in Halo are supposed to be. Human weapons are better against health than they are shields, and vice versa for the Covenant/plasma based weapons. There is no “Tilt skull” effect.

They exaggerated that effect for ODST. They also buffed the dual wield weapons a bit.

If it was 50% less, we would be emptying clips into grunts with no avail. Plasma rifle takes out shields in about 4 shots, but isn’t great against brute armor. That’s where bullets come in.

The assault rifle in this game is pretty weak against shields I’ll agree. I would prefer to pick up any other weapon if I had a choice.

As far as I know, the damage tables for all the weapons are supposed to be the same for Halo 3 and ODST. The only difference is the weapons that don’t exist in both games: the silenced SMG and Magnum in ODST and the unsuppressed SMG and Pistol in Halo 3.

Don’t believe that was the case. I know for a fact the Carbine received a buff in damage to accommodate for the Battle Rifle’s removal.

I really doubt it is 50% weaker. What would be the purpose of that?
