ODST 2 Would be Awesome

After seeing Halo Wars 2 I really started wanting an ODST 2. It doesn’t have to follow the same characters but I think should take advantage of the creepy, vulnerable, feeling the last game had. Flood would be a great inclusion with such a theme and the new squad system with Halo 5 would make for a great game. And also firefight, with forge and matchmaking. What do you guys think? Maybe between Halo 5 and 6 would be a good time as per their usual spin off game.

If they were to do a second ODST game, I would hope it takes place in the 2530s or 40s. That area hasn’t even been touched in game before… unless you count Halo Wars.

Yeah, I want it to have the flood as well personally.

Ya this would be awesome. I honestly can’t stand RTS games so I never got into Halo Wars and probably never will, so the announcement of Halo Wars 2 was a huge disappointment for me

I like Age of Empires and Battle for Middle Earth but Halo wars wasn’t even the best version of those styles of games, plus I prefer those games on a computer.

Spartan Ops season 2?
But this time, it’s a full-fledged game like ODST was. (instead of repetitive gameplay)

I would love an ODST 2. Playing firefight with AI companions you could control would make much it more fun as well. Including the flood sounds amazing, but gameplay wise, they would have to react to you differently than they would a Spartan. In Halo 3, flood spores would jump on you and then pop on contact with your shields. I’m not sure how it would work for an ODST.

Would still rather have ODST 2 but as long as it’s done right it would be welcome, but firefight would be better.

Squad command in firefight would be awesome, didn’t think of it until you mentioned it. Flood spores could act like face huggers from Aliens.

These are a few options I see that would be pretty cool
A: Follows a new group of ODSTs during some other mission or during a known battle from the MC saga (not sure about going into a prequel timeline as then it just scrambles my brain to fall in line with at least the other ODST game)
B: Follows our same group right after the events of the first game
C: Or Follows the events of New Blood and ends with the “event” (trying to keep spoilers out) and the following breakup of the team and transformation of some of them into Spartan IVs…

Option C to me sounds the most interesting and would be a big step in story telling for 343i to take in the Halo games as it would be the first Halo game where you would fight humans instead of some alien enemy… They could throw in some early missions fighting covenant or whatever to tie it to the end of the other game/s… But I think it would be huge and nice difference for the franchise along with the very emotional ending. I know a lot of people will point at it and say it’s just more like a Halo Call of Duty playing against humans… but I think it would be a good change of pace and show more the many story arcs that people that don’t get into the lore outside of the games would enjoy.

I just unfortunately don’t think it will happen just for so many other reasons… as bad as I want it to… However I thought the same of Halo Wars and it’s getting a sequel so pretty happy about that and lets me hold out hope for an ODST sequel

Yeah odst 2 would be awesome but i would like a RPG game…
an odst survives on reach and has to find other survivors and kill the remaining covenant troops

That could be a good setting for a Reach 2 game… Noble 6 is still alive!!!

Yeah, I think A and C would be really cool. But I would love some inclusion of flood.

Would rather not take away from those sacrifices on Reach by bringing them back to life, but the RPG style is a cool idea.

well you really can’t bring them back with the way they died… well maybe I guess you could since you really don’t see any of them but Kat die…Sure you see the other in situation that should kill them but Kat is the only one we saw lifeless… and we don’t really know if Noble 6 was killed or not… might’ve been taken prisoner or something during is last struggle…
I’m sure as everything continues to expand an RPG style game will come out and then before long a MMORPG “Halo Universe Online”

I think the flood could be handled quite simply

Method one: When an infection form reaches you, it begins to break through your armour to infect you. Mash buttons like crazy or game over. Not very inspired but simple enough

Method two: Make it so a squad mate has to assist you and get it off. If you aren’t saved in time, game over. Could be really good for coop experience, giving it an almost left for dead vibe where you need each other to keep yourselves alive. Would be awesome in coop for sure but in single player… You better hope the AI doesn’t -Yoink- its self when you need it. Might get a little tedious as well

Method three: Instant game over. Problem is this would always feel cheap and kinda unfair, especially if you turned the corner and oh -Yoink- a horde of infection forms.

Method four: kinda of fits in with one of my major gripes with ODST, and that’s the weird -Yoink- stamina system. I feel instead there should be an armour mechanic and the only way to get it back is to find new combat vests from supply caches or scavenged from dead UNSC soldiers. When an infection form reaches you, it latches on to you and then eats away say 10% of your armour before it pops. If one reaches you and you have no armour left, it infects you and the game is over. You could potentially combine this with other methods, perhaps your allies could help remove the spores before it eats away the full 10% in order to help you conserve your armour and such.

If done right, the flood could be legitimately terrifying to encounter.

yeah I kind of like your 4th method the most… and I agree I’ve never been a fan of the flood mostly because they are to zombie like and zombies just don’t do it for me… and as a Spartan you can pretty much plow through them.

Would be a cool idea, but just know it probably would be nothing like the original from H3.

Would love another ODST. My favorite halo game is Halo 3: ODST, the score, the tone, the earie atmosphere, you’re alone in the dark. I think an ODST game would work best as a FPS Survival Horror/Thriller type of game, atleast if it follows the same tone as the previous ODST game.

I want an ODST game on harvest. I know halo wars is set on harvest but I want to play the very 1st encounter, like the campaign starts out against insurrectionists and by the middle of the campaign you make the 1st encounter and by the end of the campaign harvest falls.

I always thought it would be cool if a future Halo installment had a Coop story unrelated to the main single player game that would be a side story that offers more detail on the game’s story, like Splinter Cell’s Coop story.
I bring this up, because I thought if the Coop characters were ODSTs instead of Spartans, players would have to rely on teamwork to succeed, since energy shields and Spartan abilities would be unavailable.
However it would be nice to have a full length ODST game that might pick up where ODST 1 left off, maybe Dutch is now the team leader(with Buck gone as a Spartan) and he is sent on a mission that goes horribly wrong and leaves him and his team stranded in enemy territory. It would bring back the open world concept ODST 1 had, but expanded upon and involve more coop play
