Oddball on Live Fire is busted

Ran into a enemy squad of 4 last night in Quick Play that had discovered an exploit strategy. Between only having one Oddball spawn location, and being able to walk off the edge of the map, they were constantly pulling our team to the edge of the map, walking off with Oddball in hand, and then immediately picking up the fresh Oddball as it spawned. Yes I’m writing this out of a little bit of salt, but I think there should be two or ideally three oddball spawns the game randomly selects between to prevent this particular breed of strategy.

I’m not sure if your gripe is with the number of ball spawn locations or if it is with the strategy the other team used.

If it is the number of ball spawn locations then that might need fixing.

Otherwise, dumping the ball off the map is a legitimate strategy. If the ball spawns in the same spot, you should have someone nearby if you think the enemy could drop the ball.

That has been the strategy for oddball for as long as I can remember.

Dumping the ball off the edge of the map has been a Strat used in high level play for years. This is because if the enemy team is pushing to one side of the map in order to capture the ball, you can throw it off the edge to force a rotation.

If there’s anything that needs to be done on this map for Oddball, it’s to adjust the spawning locations a bit because a team wipe could result in over 30 seconds to be gained by the team holding the ball which is an enormous amount of time for Oddball.

I don’t play Halo at a high level, so if this strategy is the norm there then I suppose it comes down to not yet having the map/game knowledge to effectively counter that strategy. I’d still like for there to be additional Oddball spawns, at least in the Quick Play versions of the map, to give the team of randoms a decent shot at victory.

I felt like every time I meleed someone when holding the ball, my own shield would explode, too. Is that intended, or a bug?
