I’m assuming most of you saw the new video of oddball gameplay. In it, you can throw the oddball as well as move the oddball with a gravity hammer. I’m pretty sure you can imagine it now, but if you can’t, I’ll explain. Some people will set up a baseball diamond in forge. Then one person gets a gravity hammer (the bat,) and steps up to the plate. A pitcher will carry the oddball and “pitch” it, and the guy with the gravity hammer has to hit it. Since you can catch the oddball, it’s to see if the ball is caught. Grounders? Throw it to someone! Everyone will, of course, have sprint, however an umpire of sorts would have to be assigned for calling safe and out.
Opinions? Suggestions? I know I’ll make a diamond when I finish the campaign.
It could work, I also think a descent basketball variant may be possible.

This is also true. If somebody really went far they could make a football game, but it would be rather based on the honor system.
If it’s not too much trouble can someone please post a link?
awesome idea… make me think about football in halo 3 …good times…good times
Create scoring areas above the outfield walls. Whenever someone hits the ball over the wall, it counts as a home run and the team gets the appropriate amount of points.
Another fun suggestion. Give the umpires the ability to kill players they declare as out. That way, the player respawns in his/her team’s bench or area. If a player doesn’t want to follow the rules or just troll around, the umpire has the ability to boot them from the game.
I doubt a baseball variant could be emulated perfectly, but a decent version is possible!

Of course you can’t! You’re right about a close variant, but come on, it’s Halo! Halo doesn’t need to have games like this to be perfect, it just needs a bunch of friends playing together on the game.

Lol. I meant that it wouldn’t be possible to create an oddball variant that could emulate the game of baseball perfectly, but a close, working variant is possible. Sorry about that.
Basketball can work. It allows people to run and pass. So long as the goals are marked well, it can work. Maybe make out of bounds kill zones, that are heavily marked as such, and have a grav lift push the ball back in.
I don’t see baseball and football to work in MM. Those could only work in customs as it relies too much on the honor system.
This sounds great. I used to have a baseball game in H3 using rockets, and hammers . It was a riot when you hit a rocket homer!

Don’t worry! I fully understood you! I was just saying that it didn’t have to be perfect so long as you had fun.

I was talking about custom, not matchmaking, anyway. I mean, I have no doubt at all 343i (I actually started typing Bungie instead there. XD) could program a new baseball mode. It would be rather simple, as pretty much everything that’s gonna be used is already there.

Yeah, that was always fun. I only ever played a dozen or so times, but it was fun nevertheless.
Piggy in the middle sounds like a good idea as well.

Oh ok, I got ya. And I completely agree.
i think on what they have done with oddball is great many people i can tell will make great ideas for this gametype with also forge maps

Though not entirely sure about what you said, I’ll agree. Being able to pass the ball and move it with the hammer is a great addition and gives much more to do with it. I also like how hitting somebody with the hammer really just stops them dead instead of launching them fifty feet. Not to mention you have to actually hit the person to kill them.
