I was looking through the upcoming comics due to come out in the coming month and I came across something odd that i have never seen before… What is this thing on the cover art of Escalation 16?..
It’s a Covenant mining vehicle called a Harvester. You encounter one in Spartan Ops in Halo 4 a few times.
Yeah it was strange at the time…made a few of us herald the return of the flood but turned out its the hunter worms operating it. Still strange though and looks like it was cut from the flood drawing board and used elsewhere…but given 343’s penchant for reoccurring secrets (which we all love) I wouldn’t rule it out that it holds more than meets the eye!
It’s essentially a mining Scarab. Unsurprisingly, it’s more organic and insectoid than the Old Empire’s Scarabs, presumably because that can be said for almost all of Jul’s faction.
The harvester kind of reminds me of the early promthean concept teased in h4’s art trailer. A sort of organic/machine hybrid thing. It’s design might have been salvaged from that stage, thought it seems like that concept was scrapped long before they started making models.
