Odd ball out of bounds bad for business

I high doubt they’ll do anything to the players you report…

It brings attention to a clear cheat.

Lol it isn’t an exploit. It’s been a viable strategy since Halo 2.

Tell me you’ve never played Halo without saying you’ve never played Halo.

I’ve played halo since halo one. I don’t play with cheaters tho.

I also don’t play oddball as it’s boring. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Right now I’m forced to play it.

I’ve played for 20 years. Since CE.

Then the fact that you are salty over a legitimate strategy is just that: salt.

Just because you don’t like a strategy doesn’t mean it’s a cheat. Part of the strategy involved is making sure the enemy doesn’t get the ball either. If you’re alone, and about to die in an advantageous position, the better choice is to reset the ball.

You’re just salty you’re getting outplayed. I’m sure you think ledge-guarding in Smash Bros is a cheat too.

Just to reiterate what everyone else is saying: “Playing the ball” has been a viable strategy for over a decade. You might want to wait until December 8, when I think more playlists will come out and you can stick to swat and team slayer.

In every single mode, it’s Cheat to make the objective purposely unobtainable to the Enemy team.

If your strategy physically makes it impossible for the enemy to score, it’s a cheat.

The fact legit players defend this “strat” is appalling.
I would remove players for cheating for doing this in game.

Except it isn’t unobtainable, because it gets reset and the enemy team can just pick it up again. If the ball were to get stuck in a place that no one could get it, and you had the lead and could just ride the timer out then I’d agree with you.

But that’s not the case, that’s not what you’re referring to. You’re referring to the act of resetting the ball. In fact, resetting the ball at a bad time could cost you the entire game. It’s a doube-edged sword.

No.
So I send 3 out of 4 teammates to kill the enemy with the ball standing behind a box on the edge of a cliff. While one of us waits by the ball respawn.

His other 2 mates are there killing time waiting and us as we go.
Possible outcomes:
We kill his 2 mates and he jumps off.
His 2 mates have respawned and are now over at the ball ready to repeat.

I send only 2 over and 2 by the respawn.
Maybe those guys kill the 3 with the ball, but it’s still 3 on 2 at the ball point.

If this is a “legit” strat, the respawn timer for deaths needs to be much longer. 25 seconds.

So you got outplayed in that scenario. That’s not the game’s fault. The 8 second timer is already enough if you wipe the team when the ball gets reset, because they also have to run back to the ball after spawn.

But I see no amount of argumentation is going to change your mind, because you’re just going to theorycraft a scenario that suits your argument, when there are several factors that go into play in this situation. Not to mention there is a legitimate counter to ball resetting now, the grappleshot. If the person drops the ball, or you kill them before they hit the death barrier, you can snag the ball out of the air and maintain the advantageous position.

Either way, you’re the only person I’ve ever seen take an issue with this in all the time I’ve played Halo, and I’m sure it’ll remain that way.

I gotta admire OP’s commitment. Literally every response in this thread has said this is a legitimate strategy (which I agree with) but OP just keeps insisting everyone is wrong and this is clearly cheating. Despite the fact it being included in HCS level play and all of us having been aware of it for a very long time now.

Obviously OP is on another level than the HCS pros. They’re just a bunch of dirty cheaters that aren’t actually good at the game.

There’s a lot of whiney babies in these threads… but you might be the biggest one of them all lmao

OP’s topic has the same energy as “if they outshoot me they’re cheating”.

It’s clearly an exploit. Like, absolutely CLEAR.

Don’t know what you don’t understand.
If the solution to wining is “jump off the map” it’s not a legit strategy. It’s an exploit.

Except if it was an exploit the ball wouldn’t clearly reset, and there wouldn’t be a voiceline that blatantly says “ball reset.”

The devs obviously took this into account and made design choices around it. Therefore, it is not an exploit.

Genuinely starting to think we’re all getting played here. Nobody’s played 20 years of Halo and somehow not seen this strategy until now.

For sure, this is a massive troll post. There’s no way it’s not.
