Oceanic halo ??

With the new patch/update, taking away region locking, this has now caused the oceanic scene to once again go back into the customs lobby like we have since the end of halo reach.

When halo 5 came out, the entire oceanic scene has boomed and started to become interested but since this update has come out i dont think anyone is searching matchmaking anymore, it is far too laggy and has forced everyone into customs again

please give us the option to choose the region lock or not, please give us the option to choose the dedicated server we want to search on

Choosing a server is a nice idea, like what titan fall and gears of war did.

TBH i dont mind if i never play another game on an Oceanic server again as long as i can find a game consistantly

I hope the change gets reverted as I am just going to put the game down for good if it doesn’t as I can’t be bothered dealing with this again, which would be a shame as the game is considerably the best Halo since Halo 2 and up to this point has been released flawlessly compared to the abysmal experience that was the Master Chief Collection.

I agree.

I think it’s fine to have matchmaking searching for any available match by default, but having the ability to choose ‘local connection’ like in Halo 3 would be a huge advantage for the Oceanic players.

Halo 5 matchmaking had been a great experience when we were assured that each game had crisp bullet registration and everyone was on a fairly similar playing field latency-wise. Now that we’re being matched onto US servers the latency gap creates such inequality which takes the fun and competitiveness out of the game.

For me, it’s definitely not enticing me to play anymore, as matchmaking is the sole reason I have Halo 5.

Oceania has clearly been recognised as an important region for the Halo Championship Series - Don’t deter the gamers from actively playing competitively with something so trivial.

If you could choose a server, that would be the best option.

But at Onyx/Champ you don’t even find games in the Oceanic region (searching alone = no games) seems to work slightly better with a team of 4 but still can take ages. So matching USA is good IMO. I’d rather play > not play.

amen, games > no games anyday regardless of the connection…

yesterday i couldnt join a single game with out lagging out all over the map, is this the cause?

Agree with all the points above.

It’s either they revert it back to how it was, or they implement an option to search for good connection games (just like reach and h3).

To suit everyone it would have to be a toggle on setting. To restrict the match to those of your region only, Being AUS or NZ or wherever with the normal setting being quickest. I don’t mind being off host (server) but if it is that big of a deal which it is to a lot of people, give them this option if possible

Implement LAN plz

The system from Reach, where you could simply toggle good connection searching on or off would be easily implemented and beneficial for all persons that play Halo 5.

Well that explains the god awful lag all day. Ive had nothing but American hosted games and its nearly unplayable. Didn’t buy Halo 5 to play on overseas servers.

If only someone was warning 343 that this could happen. Or they had similar problems in another game they released previously.

personally i think it is a massive oversight, i mean i can see their point of view where the populations are low so we have to do something about it, but removing the barrier was definitely the wrong way to go around doing it.

As people have said previously either adding a preference option to toggle region searching, or being simply able to search which dedicated server you wanted to search is the best case scenario.

as it stands right now, i will not be searching matchmaking until this is fixed.

NZ REPRESENT

what twitter do we need to spam at to get this noticed? like bravo or josh holmes or whom?

The choice should be ours

Prolly Josh holmes, tag him to this post as well :stuck_out_tongue:

I really dont want to buy blops 3 to get my local hosted MP fix, im loving the feel of this game. But this lag … nope cant handle it. When my shots do land, they are about an inch off my targets model.
