I haven’t been on Halo 5 in a long time, but I was quite surprised when I heard that there wasn’t an objective playlist. I know there’s Team Skirmish, but that’s hardly an “objective” playlist considering there’s only three gametypes, one being Slayer.
Teamwork is important to some players and want to enjoy the game with their Spartan Companies (like myself). And some people simply find Objective playlists more fun (like myself).
So, why can’t we see a stronger objective presence? Halo used to have a lot of fun objective gametypes. Oddball, VIP, Stockpile, etc…
Does anybody else want to see more Objective gametypes, hopefully with it’s own playlist?
Yes! King of the Hill and Oddball, for sure! I miss these objective game types being in FFA. I know we weren’t talking about FFA specifically, but still.
I honestly can’t recall, VIP, though… is that the one where you have a Hammer and Overshield or was that Juggernaut? I also can’t remember Stockpile?

King of the Hill is a good one! I forgot about that one, to be honest.
VIP was a gametype in Halo 3 where one person on each teach was the VIP (only equipped with the pistol) and both teams had to kill the other team’s VIP. And whoever got the most VIP kills won, if I’m not mistaken.
Stockpile was only ever in Reach and that was the gametype where you had to take as many flags as possible and bring them back to your zone. And once you got a certain amount of flags in there, you would win. But the other team could take flags out of your zone, all flags were fair game until the very end.
Also, that reminds me of Headhunter too. Another fun objective gametype from Reach that was for FFA.

Headhunter? Is that the one where you had to kill someone and then collect the bounty?

Yep, each time you killed somebody they dropped a flaming skull (in addition to any other skulls they were carrying at the time). It was hectic and loads of fun!

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with Construct King as well.

Honestly I didn’t even know they did King of the Hill on High Ground. But, High Ground being one of my favorite maps (if not my favorite), I’m sure it was a lot of fun.

I would love a team objective playlist especially if it had oddball KOTH and all other objectives from the old halos, I had a lot of fun on those modes in older halos.

Yeah, same here.
It really baffles me. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t add more into the game, especially the older, iconic ones from the original Halos.

I’d be happy with it replacing Arena, but honestly it shouldn’t have to replace anything. It should already be a part of the game along with everything else.
Honestly there’s a slight chance albeit minimal that we’ll ever see a purely-Objective playlist for a couple reasons.
A. Dividing the community, as objective playlists have always seen relatively lower numbers than other playlists seeing as Slayer is much more inviting to play to newcomers and not-so-good players.
B. Lack of Gametype variety. It may not be as bad now that 343 is trying out Oddball for the first time starting tomorrow. So that means we’d have CTF, Strongholds, Assault, and Oddball. Preferably 1 other gametype such as Ricochet, Stockpile, 1-Flag/1-Bomb modes, or King of the Hill could really make the game much less stale and far more enjoyable.
I’d love for this Oddball rotational to be a test of sorts for a permanent objective playlist though, but I seriously doubt it happens.
