Why in objective gametypes do my teammates always ignore the objective? It’s as if capturing the flag or picking up the ball is the very last priority as opposed to the entire reason for the match. Nobody aside from me ever hangs back to defend the flag or defend the base, everybody just rolls around going for kills with no tactics in mind. Is this just one of the many failings of social playlists? I sacrifice myself sooooo many times in a match just to touch the flag amongst 4 enemies so as to prolong the time before the flag is returned and giving my teammates time to pick it up but nobody ever does. They just sit on their perches throwing grenades making no move on the flag that is 3/4 to our base and would be an easy cap. Worst is when you die just before you cap it and a teammate walks RIGHT PAST THE FLAG and it times out and gets returned.
All too busy getting sick 360 no scopes for their youtube channel.
Seriously though. Modern games are geared towards solo progression and rewards, and this is the result. Why get yourself a lower K/D trying to win the game? Modern game design has trained the modern gamer to be selfish and solo-orientated.
(not that it didn’t exist before, but to me it seems far more wide spread since the shift in design and the rise of game sharing media).

Oh yeah I didn’t think of that…well this is awkward…
I too, find it shocking that teammates completely forego the objectives in favor of kills (or dying a lot). I’ve seen them walk past the flag and Stronghold points too many times to count myself. In these cases, I’m the one who has to carry the team and deal some damage all at once.
You are yelling into the abyss my friend this has been a plague on objective game modes since we long as I can remember a game implementing objective game modes

I don’t mean to sidestep the fairly legitimate complaint you bring up, but I did want to touch on a few thoughts and possibilities.
Having a guy hang back in a pure defensive mode is usually a fairly poor tactic as it can often compromise your team’s ability to obtain vital power weapons or hold important offensive/defensive positions. The only real reason to hang back in a pure defensive mode is when you’re simply trying to protect a lead in the waning moments of a match and your team hasn’t been able to account for the position/location of all the opponents.
Sacrificing yourself to reset the flag re-spawn counter is noble, but doing so blindly and against a full opponent squad can often be a part of poor judgement. It might be wiser to 'nade the four opponents and try taking them down; especially, if they’re all gathered together in an attempt to return their flag. That way you and your teammates can effectively eliminate them and in turn create a new window of opportunity to pull/grab their flag. Also, if the opponents are all together returning their flag it may present an opportunity to ignore them while heading directly to their base in order to re-grab their flag verses tossing your life away in a fairly meaningless attempt to keep the flag active. Judgement on what’s the best maneuver is often different and should be weighed accordingly on a case-by-case basis, but more likely than not the struggles you’re talking about is related to a lack of communication. Without good communication your teammates probably don’t know your thought process and may be thinking that the best course of action is something different that what you’re thinking.
Anyways, I agree that it is annoying when you have teammates who are much more interested in slaying than achieving the non-slayer based objective such as the example you gave about the flag landing just short of being captured and yet a teammate walks past it because they’re more interested in landing that kill on a guy who probably killed the flag guy right before capturing it.

The most happiest? And you’re calling me ignorant. Oh the irony…
You mentioned no tactics in mind and it’s exactly that because I’m assuming you’re playing solo and no one is talking. That’s what will happen when there is no communication so I can’t really blame anyone for doing their own thing.
Here’s an example. Let’s say someone on your random team decides he’s just gonna slay. So he’s killing people and he gets an overkill, but he’s wondering why no one is playing the objective. I just got an overkill! Unfortunately, the objective guy is just now moving over to the enemy base and guy who was slaying was killed because they respawned.
Now the objective guy is at the enemy base and getting ganged up on screaming why isn’t anyone helping me with the objective?! The problem is the slayer guy was killing people too early and the objective guy played it too late. It’s miscommunication like that which happens all the time when you play on solo teams and it can cost you wins.
