While Reach’s Objective games weren’t exactly broken, they were often misplayed because cR was the only incentive for some players to play the game. This encouraged holding the objective while completely annihilating enemy team, instead of just focusing on victory and moving on to next game. We can all blame Bungie’s idiotic idea of “everybody wins” mentality and not rewarding the winning team enough and focusing on idea of “More kills, faster rank up”.
A lot of people played King Of The Hill just to rack up easy kills without even giving any attempt to go to get points. Same with Oddball, and pretty much every objective gametypes. Why? Commendations were mainly for just getting certain amount of kills with weapons/vehicles, and you got basicly no cR even if you won the game. Here are my suggests for possible solutions:
1. Add a Bonus for winning.
Well, if Halo 4 is going to get playlists with visible skill, this doesn’t really concern them because there already is incentive for winning the game for competitives and people who enjoy ranked games. But for “Social” playlists:
Bonus Exp for winning the game
The amount of experience gained from winning the game is based on how quickly you won the game, this will encourage scoring the flag instead of holding it and killing enemy team, when your team is winning 2-0, controlling all the power weapons.
2.Objective Commendations
I’ve understood commendations are in Halo 4, correct me if I’m wrong.
Reach’s idea of commendations was great, though like a lot of other additions in Reach, this too was poorly implemented. They only rewarded you for killing. This could be easily fixed, Add commendations for:
Scoring the Flag/Detonating the bomb in Assault
Stopping the Flag/Bomb/Oddball carrier
Gaining points in KoTH
Holding the Oddball
Other objectives I’ve missed, let me know if I forgot anything essential, I’ll edit it here.
If you people come up with other ideas, post ahead, we all have our different views and ideas for the game, these are just what I personally would do.
TL;DR: Oh you come to forums and can’t be bothered to read? Oh well, in short:
Add Bonus for winning, based on how much there is time left in the game.

I definitely agree with you on the objective commendations. It wouldn’t even be hard to implement surely. I am sick of holding the oddball for like the whole time, while my friends get tons of kills, and then getting no reward.
But the best fix for this would simply be a win/loss ranking system. That is all the incentive needed to win, and I can pretty safely say that I never saw people drag out a CTF game in H3. To me it always seemed that people would just score the flag as fast as possible to get the win.
The problem with a progression system is that people simply don’t care about winning, because they’ll be getting xp or whatever either way. If they are going to be getting xp regardless of whether they win or not, then the majority of time most people would rather just killwhore and stuff like that instead of going for the win.
I think CoD is a particularly good example of it. The majority of people don’t even care about winning; just stat padding, using silly weapons or going for the best game winning killcams by jumping of buildings and going for 360 no scopes.
I can only see the inclusion of sooo many medals making things worse since objective will always be the best place to achieve any killstreak related medals. There was that thing mentioned where k/d achieved in objective matches won’t count to your overall k/d, but that will barely stop anyone from killwhoring. Commendations would likely just encourage boosting with full parties working together to ensure maximum xp for both teams.
The solution to all this would of course be a ranking system based on w/l rather than a progression system or a skill ranked objective playlist, but beyond that all you could really do is remove all non-objective based medals and stats from objective matches and put in place considerable motivation for winning, alongside some form of xp related punishment for losing.

> W/L ranking system is the best way to fix objective.

Like I mentioned, this is idea more about Social and encouraging winning the game instead of stat padding, assuming the Halo 4 hopefully does get ranked/social divided. I for one wouldn’t like to see the ranking system go “Global” because nobody wants to play “ranked games” with guests, or would you guys like to see your precious skill go down because I was on your team with 3 guests who were new to the game?
Ranked playlists already should have incentive to win, that goes without saying. But this is to prevent competitive players to go play social games, hold the objective and stomp new players just to rank up in progression system faster. Faster the win, better the reward could possibly fix this.
> Both of those are already in. Either way the solution that you want so not going to happen. Dinosaur has already given the reason and I have to agree.
Both of those are already in Halo 4, and the solution I suggest isn’t going to happen?
Either you want to rephrase that or my English isn’t enough to understand what you mean.
A lot of people are saying that W/L ranking system will fix this and that, if the system is global on all playlists, people are going to get mad because their skill dropped because they got matched with guests or unskilled teammates. This is EXACTLY why Halo 4 needs Ranked/Social divided.
