Objective Based Playlist

I may be missing something here, but why is there not a purely objective based playlist in the MCC? I have many fond memories on Halo 2 Coagulation and Halo 3 Avalanche playing CTF. It’s a shame there is not a purely objective based playlist, being that in BTB most everyone always votes slayer, leaving us objective preferred players out in the cold.

I agree, I really want to get back into objective based games in Halo but so far I’ve had no luck in people voting for objectives.

Won’t happen again. Too many people go in, score 1 or 2, they proceed to destroy the other team for the remainder of the game. I for one love objective games, its gone the way of 1v1 playlist.

I noticed that as well. However, I feel that is only because it is mixed in with Slayer based gametypes. BTB has become 90% dominated by slayer and the voted maps that actually come up objective or all object either get voted out by slayer or the two teams proceed to treat it as if it was a slayer match. If you separated these two (for an extended period of time and not a few weeks,) an objective focused playlist would be much more balanced. Bungie did this with great success during their time with Halo 3 and Reach. IE, just create a seperate objective based BTB hopper.

This ends up happening 90% of the time in any game mode, be it slayer, CTF, Assault, etc. That isn’t an issue inherent to objectives, it’s an issue on game balance. For some reason no Halo game has an auto-balance system for when players leave, then you have 6v8 and one team is at a disadvantage the entire game when a simple autobalance could be implemented to pick a random player to switch teams. However that’s really for another topic, I really think 343 should add a lot more “sub” playlists for multiplayer if you enjoy certain game modes, say you just want to play CTF or just Griffball etc. Why should Slayer get it’s own playlist while other gamemodes don’t?

I’ve been waiting for team objective since the game came out.

I am sick and tired of playing the same slayer game over and over. I am kinda not playing the game as much cause i cant play a single CTF game that actually takes some strategy rather than a slayer game where you have no incentive to move across the map

I agree, but Objective playlists generally tend to have much lower populations than Slayer. I think this is because Objective gametypes are incredibly sensitive to teamwork – that is, if one side uses teamwork and the other side doesn’t, the game gets one-sided very, very fast. This means that full teams of five go into matchmaking together, get matched up against a bunch of unsuspecting randoms, and spend the next 15 minutes slaughtering them.

So, unless you’re part of a full team, the playlist simply becomes a place to get your -Yoink- kicked. There should be some kind of balancing involved – that is, teams of 4 or 5 only get matched up against other teams of 4 or 5 – but I’m not sure the playlist would have the population to support that.

I’d argue that most of the lack of coordination that comes from Objectives is because that Objective is in playlists with Slayer so when players don’t get what they vote for (Which in this case is slayer) then they don’t care about the objective and just pretend the mode is slayer.

100% true. Almost always when you have a mixed playlist people who prefer one mode over the other will ALWAYS play to that style. Which is why, having a mixed hopper is so crucial.

Yup…I loved playing CTF on Waterworks and Avalanche…I have yet to play either of those ONCE. Always gets outvoted. However, I’ve had to play on either Valhala or Ragnarok about 1,000 times…over and over and over. Ugh. It’s the same map, people, just prettier.
Give us more gametype choice. Games like Battlefield offer you lots of choice and there is still no problem with getting in a game fast. Halo has at least as many players.

Halo not only has a more active community than Battlefield, but its community is a lot more amazing. Sure, there are those random Halo players that are in it just for the MP; but the Halo Nation fans like you and I play Halo for the depth and fun. It would be pertinent that 343i give the Halo Nation community a diverse and robust experience. After all, the Halo Nation gives 343i a robust and diverse fanbase.

I agree, I think there should be a team objective playlist but it may be too late now :frowning:

It’s never too late to add a feature to make the core experience more enjoyable.

I think they should add Team Objective to MCC eventually, I just hope they have it in Halo 5.

I feel like at this point, the entire focus is on Halo 5.

Of course, but what I mean is by the time they’ve sorted it all out, Halo 5 will nearly be out anyway and MCC’s population will drop dramatically.
