There is no way in hell 343 have fixed the issue of good connection in this game. I haven’t had an Aussie or Kiwi host since the three games I played on the release date.
This is totally unplayable in its current state. 343 Have stated that they have ‘apparently’ fixed this issue but I’m yet to see any changes. If anything it has gotten worse. The ever decreasing population of this game reflects this.
7 shot kill with a DMR whilst using ‘damage boost’ isn’t an ideal way of fun.
How many times must we complain about the weak netcode 343 have provided for this game?
Once -Yoink!- have your money they just don’t seem to care about their community which is a shame, as it’s going to be that exact same community that WAS going to buy the next generation xbox.
343, to exclude your international fan base was one of the most weakest ideas in gaming/ PR history. I should ask of you to bring back the good connection option for Halo 5, something so obvious it shouldn’t even need to be asked of. But seeing as this was the final Halo I’m willing to buy (since the first generation xbox, halo 1) do as you please.
Time for a different kind of console I think. PS4? Wii-U?
…Bungie has an exciting new game available on Play Station. It looks great. I bet it has better netcode too.

I have to admit, the “fix” they put in, did help. However, if it cant find a local host, it just goes straight to american hosts.
It seems to only check local hosts once, and moves on to the next best.
search local “only” would fix this.
Damn, must be pretty bad playing without ‘good connection’ in NZ.
Still, I don’t think switching consoles is the way to go. This is 343i’s fault, not MS.
That’s not really at tl;dr IMO. It didn’t have anything related to the message. So not a tl;dr.

im in the same boat,
Some days i actually get good connection games and can win constantly doubling teams scores, then other times its an american host and we can barely get the win, or lose horribly when it takes 1.5 to 2x the number of shots to kill someone.
343i needed and should add search good connection. Off host is horrible in this game… worse than any other in the series.
BTW im in Australia.
Our best bet is to play custom games only, which is hardly any fun with the lack of variety or options available to us

Its because after a certain amount of time frustration builds as to why the game company has to cater to Americans only, when this is a world wide game.
Coupled with the american ideology that they are the world and us kiwis/aussies can get -Yoinked!-, i’d love to see americans off host every game when shots dont register and it takes forever to get a kill when they sponge at one shot.

Sorry I’ve just always been curious.
It’s not that I’m not sympathizing with you, I’m from the UK so I know how frustrating it is to consistently get paired up against bad connections game after game.
I remember playing alongside a few Australian guys too, they had it worse than me when a US player had host but when they had host, geezus.
My point is, the connections can’t be improved. But there should be a ‘Search for local hosts’ only option or country-wide, nation-wide, region-wide and world-wide search settings.

It does happen. A lot. I still match French, Mexican, Canadian, and Spanish people. I was even playing on a Pennsylvania host(on the same coast on me) last night, and that was absolutely awful.
Unless I was playing with 3 other US players, I never pulled host. The majority of my time on Reach was off host.

I can hardly see how several Americans can equal the whole of Australia and NZ. Anyway, that’s beside the point.
I doubt that Americans can lag every game, have shots not register and have cross map bolt-shots hit and kill, that’s what i face 99.9% of my matches.
