just wondering if anyones heard or seen anything for marine NPCs and driving. not that im too bothered about them driving me around but just interested if its been improved
I don’t think they released info about the NPCs behind the wheel…
I could be wrong though.
Haven’t heard anything yet.
I wish I knew something remembers Kat the horror of reach shall never return

Kat was a delightful lady. Driving just wasn’t her forte…
Not the most anticipated piece of information, I suppose.

343: AND NOW! We will reveal, for the very first time, actual footage of a marine driving with the chief in passenger seat.
10 minutes of driving around on an open field
Audience: Ooooooooo!
I don’t blame Kat. I blame the hog physics.
Nonetheless, the way I see it, there are only 2 ways to ensure good hog drivers in H4:
-
Restrict their pathfinding like in H2
-
Make them smart! The first step is to increase their response time in getting in seats. I’m getting bombarded with Wraiths and my troopers are out sightseeing? The hell? The next step is to give them godly strafe (particularly when dealing with fuel rod gun wielders) so they can actually dodge them.
And if neither way works, the last resort option: make marines stay in the passenger/gunner seat instead of switching seats and driving off with it!
And of course, fixing the -Yoinking!- hog. I believe ‘sturdy’ and ‘not made of paper’ has been mentioned by 343. Now what about the driving? Will it turn like crazy as in Reach or will I have to press the LT button like in the trilogy? Will it crash into walls (H2, H3, Reach) or will it auto-adjust itself (CE)? Will passenger and gunner health appear on the hud in the campaign? Will there be first person passenger seats? And how long does it take to exit the driver seat?
Honestly by this point. It just wouldn’t be halo if the marines or npc could drive well.
The marines will probably be inferior as they always are (unless in significant numbers). I know I’m supposed to feel like a super soldier, but sometimes doing all the work because the ‘military might’ of the UNSC is laughable sometimes.
