NPCs not needing to reload Consussion Rifles?

I noticed a while ago that enemies can endlessly fire their Consussion Rifles, but just now I’m realizing how much artificial difficulty it adds. The CR is designed with 6 shots, and it shouldn’t be firing more than that amount without reloading. If I barely survive 6 shots from it, I should have a chance to fight a reloading enemy. However, this isn’t the case. It’s the same kind of stupid and cheap mechanics like having NPC Elites with melee bleed through.

Discuss why this is stupid.

I have noticed it before, but only sub-consciously, never actually thinking about it until you mentioned it. It may be pretty stupid, but I don’t think it’s a big deal, since I doubt it can be changed and not many people notice it.

That’s pretty much the case for all re loadable weapons in all the games. On Legendary they just fire and fire and fire and fire X40.

It was pretty much all right in Halo 1 because no covvy weapons were reloadable, but now in Reach…it adds a cheap kind of hard to the difficulty. It isn’t a “Oh, that’s what that Elite did! Smart.”, more so a kind of “So they know where I’m at any time and never reload and can kill me in one hit?” difficulty.

Your just noticing that now? It has been like that since halo CE dude… Brutes firing their brute shots, grunts with needlers, PP, and FRG. If I were you, I would get used to it.

In Halo CE you could see grunts reloading their needler. Flood on the other hand, well they never needed to reload.

Not only do NPCs have a bottomless magazine they also have weapons that don’t overheat. Grunts and Jackels can fire off an overcharge shot and immediately resume firing their plasma pistols without a cool down period.

The only time NPCs reload is when they’re behind cover. I’ve seen it with needler Grunts but it’s rare with Elites.

But yes, it is cheap, especially when the concussion rifle (compared to the Brute Shot) hardly does any damage in player hands. It is also a sad thing when I have to turn on Tilt skull to reduce the damage… and of course, Reach blast radius is absurd.

This is the main problem. The heating process is too short. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has noticed this.

Reach Jackals are the most cheapest Jackal in Halo games. They’re completely designed for facing players so they completely destroy Reach troopers. CE Jackals on the other hand had player and marine in mind, which is one of the reasons why they do that pathetic roll, to give marines a chance to actually hit them.

H3 had Pet Jackals, which added immersion (while every other enemy was firing their guns off like hell) and had strategic purpose on SLASO. Instead of reducing it’s occurrence in ODST (by giving Jackals the ability to stop charging which has been possible since H3), Bungie completely removed it.

They also reverted to H2 invincible all-the-time allies. H3’s ‘resurrection system’ was pretty good. Gave me some control of when I didn’t want invincible allies kill stealing or taking away the fun from a battle. Allowed me to disarm stubborn invincible allies by dropping a depleted weapon next to them. Then came Reach and it also uses H2’s invincible all-the-time attributes.

And of course, almost no AI improvement. Instead, more emphasis on aggression and bull–Yoink-, just like H3.

Anyways, it is very aggravating when the only reliable way to kill Jackals now is to frag them or use the DMR/NR. It is especially annoying that shooting them in the arm only gives you one shot for their head due to Bloom. So if you miss or hit their body, you have to hit their arm again!

Reach Jackals are described as moving shields. That is complete deviation from CE Jackals, which are the equivalent of marines. Only sniper Jackals still feel like that. Reach Jackals are cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap. Only 1 slit on their shield, nearly impervious to melee, damage sponges allowing them to survive the blast radius of the rocket launcher, etc.

i guess because they are ai’s i don’t know lol
