I would even trade a bit of their lethality for more survivability. I know brutes are huge terribly strong creatures, but it just makes no sense that within 30 seconds of any firefight, all the NPC’s have been killed. If the war went like that, well none of this would be going on because humanity would be extinct or imprisoned.

Plus with these marines dying so easily it accentuates how badass the Spartans are.
Yes you can get them to be of more use. The Mythic skull does bump up there health 200% an Catch skull will get your marines to use there grenades. They will be hopefully survive more then 2x as long for you. The Marines or ODST have always been nearly useless on legendary with out power weapons or an Mythic Tough Luck an Catch skulls on Atleast they were a distraction. In this title they can takeout enemies with out your assistance… positioning. I’d say there about as tough as a Skirmisher or grunt ultra.
Yes, but the main killer of marines is from vehicles falling out the sky. We should focus all our efforts here.

The NPCs were generally very weak… still can’t believe we didn’t find any ODSTs, and after all the talk about all these Spartans, we only find them dead.
The war did go like that. The Spartans were the only real push back the UNSC had against the Covenant, everyone else was just fodder.
At least that’s how the lore put it. Games like Halo Wars and ODST tell it a bit differently. But they kind of had to.

Omg the first time this happens I absolutely lost it. By that point I’d already tried to kill a marine with my rifle and realized it was impossible. So I wasn’t expecting that lunatic Esparza to drop a warthog out Of the sky right on top of the head of one of my marines. LOL the grunting death sound he made and to top it off the other marine not two seconds later running up to him to grab his BR off the ground “this is much better” I was in tears!
