Across every game I have played featuring multiplayer, you see people quitting in droves and going AFK. Hell, in Iron Banner you see people just running the map dancing and waving with no intent to compete. They are just in the game mode for the drops.
That people are folding in FF, then, does not surprise me.
Does not surprise me in the slightest. A small percentage wanted a harder mode, and it in result is driving the casual player base away. That’s one thing I want to say to everyone say it’s fine: Just because you, who play competitively most likely and play Halo 5 as your main game, do not have the same mind and skillset of someone who just wants to play the game for fun and play many other casual based games like CoD and Battlefield. Because let me tell you, I have many friends like that, and they’re already put off from the game because of its difficulty, and they play Halo semi-regularly. Just imagine if someone who does not play Halo plays Firefight for the first time and gets absolutely destroyed before round 3… they aren’t gonna want to play the game in general, which means a lower population and more people quitting matches.
I think that’s just the game for you. In recent years quitting has become more frequent in games, regardless of the punishment. It sucks but at least others can join in progress, I guess.

It’s not anyone’s fault except 343i really… Every thing they do is in extremes. Halo 4 is extremely casual, people cry out, 343i removes basically all the casual features for Halo 5, and then add WZFF that is are filled with horrible game design techniques and consumes large amounts of REQ’s just to get past round 3. That’s just stupid design.

Much more than a small percentage wanted a buffed difficulty. Go loo at the poll thread about WZFF difficulty. It was neck and neck when I voted. It would take a lot of programming but it would be cool if you could choose between two difficulties for WZFF kind of like matchmaking preferences in balanced, expanded, strict. That would take some time for 343 I bet but that way everyone could play the difficulty they want.
Because like I said, harder vs easier population is pretty even so without the option I mentioned, a group of players are going to be unhappy.
I went 1-7 in Firefight today and I still had fun and would do it all over again if I had the time.

They’ve tried both extremes now, let’s just hope they learn and do what Goldilocks did when they make Halo 6.
While I wanted a more difficult mode, I don’t understand what would have been so hard about giving us options. It’s simple, have two Warzone Firefight modes : normal and heroic. That way, people who are beginners/who don’t want a big challenge can stick to normal. Those who want something that’ll take more coordination and effort can have heroic.
That’s the thing that bugs me the most about 343i’s games. Unlike Bungie, they only seem to believe in doing thing one way, and one way only. Bungie always gave us both ranked and social playlists, with plenty of stuff to do for everybody. Even in Campaign matchmaking, we could vote on difficulty. But 343? No. Like CorporalWings0 said, it’s all in extremes. Halo 4 was ALL super casual, and then Halo 5 is ALL super competitive. Both games drove away a good portion of the community, which would not have happened if people of all types were catered to with options.

I think you touched on an important subject here.
Halo was made free for a week. GREAT. What a great opportunity to get in potential fans and broaden the halo fanbase.
How do you do it ? Introduce them to a social PvE game which is what casual players all want (look at Gears horde, COD Zombies etc. ).
Then they go ahead and make the game mode, which is about fun and turn it into worse than legendary difficulty unless you rely on req packs which not many people have infinitely. I tried to tell my friends who like this game mode to join in and all tried it a couple times and gave up deleted the game. They’re never going to get into Halo. The drop in Halo is real already and if they only aim this towards the competitive ones soon the community is not only going to die off too with the game but it will have tainted the community which once was the best now toxic. You see the same ones elswhere with their ‘‘git gud’’ immaturity. One of my friend actually said sorry I tried liking it but what madness prevents and punishes you from playing for nearly a minute ? In a game that’s couple minutes long. I’m mostly sitting here watching the timer go down and by then game ended.
This was really a great opportunity. But as always with 343…failed opportunity.

Yup, that’s what I’ve been saying all along. They take their criticism way too seriously.

People sometimes don’t give 343 nearly enough credit that they deserve at times. They are extremely selective and ignore anything and everything they do right.

What did they do right exactly? All I can think of is Forge. They don’t know how to manage what to include. People say 4 is casual, so they remove all the casual things for 5. Like, what? The upper management at 343i has no idea how to make a good game that everyone can enjoy.

I agree with this 1000% WZFF is fun even when I lose. People just want everything to be easy now a days and not even have to try. It’s pathetic.

Exactly! From my perspective, we need more video games (or modes within them) that have a difficulty level with a substantial challenge. The Warzone Firefight Beta was fun, but overall it was too easy.
I have logged 40 matches of Warzone Firefight, including 19 of them last night. Our crew finished the evening 4-15, but still managed to have a lot of fun along the way!

Yeah, the only exception I can think of is when we had to defend the armory on Darkstar in Round 1. We failed miserably. It was legitimately a waste of time lol. Any one else ran into that? They spawn inside the armory and immediately start taking the armory. You run insidea to clear them out and they spawn right outside the door and trap you. By then it’s too much to take out with just pistols. I could see why someone would get frustrated if that happen to be one of their first matches.
They are quitting Warzone also. A few people are getting 40-60 kills regularly now thanks to the new reqs. Think the free try H5 players enjoy that?

Agreed. My group has encountered that three times, and still hasn’t defeated it yet. It is noticeably more difficult than the “Defend the Armory” objective during Round 1 that you find in March on Stormbreak. The thing that stands out on Darkstar is that the enemies roll into the armory with Promethean Knights, and occasionally more than one of them at a time! Combined with the lesser enemies that are shooting you, that level is more than a little problematic.
Report the quitters. I wish they wouldn’t quit.
There’s some real malarky being spouted in this thread. I’m a long time Halo gamer but my RL commitments make me very casual and I think WZFF is bloody awesome! Yeah, it’s REQ heavy but the rewards are epic. It’s damn fun solo nevermind in a party of friends!
There is no point in leaving to be completly hoest with you !!
