Maybe not. However graphically, on an artistic scale and on the whole Halo 5 feels next gen to me. If I compare the H5 beta and GOW 4 beta, it’s no contest.

Judgement did the very thing you want for gears. It did not work, so the devs did the only reasonable thing to do and made gears play like a gears game. If you think its boring then gears wasn’t the game for you and you should find another franchise. Gears should play like gears, halo like halo, etc.

Still missing the point…

A return to form is copying and pasting animations, sounds and executions? We will have to completely disagree. I am not alone in my thoughts. People are echoing similar thoughts on the Gears forum.
I am praising 343 for making use of X1 with H5. Gears 4 does that no more than Ultimate Edition, judging by the beta.

What kind of different animations were you expecting? You have no way of knowing if the animations are even that similar unless you compare them side-by-side. You’re going by memory. If you’re talking about executions, well yeah, of course they’d remain consistent. Halo 5 has all of the Assassinations from Halo 4 as well as other animations. You don’t fault 343 though, right?
Sounds like you’re looking for a problem where there isn’t one, and as well as whoever else “echoes your thoughts.” If you have to bash another franchise to make you feel better about Halo, then there’s something wrong with Halo, not Gears.
I love Halo 5, however had they just copied and pasted Halo 3 with next gen graphics, I’d have been happy with that as well.

It’s not to make myself feel better about Halo. I love Halo. There’s dozens and dozens of new animations in Halo 5 - look at all the multiplayer assassinations. Why would executions remain consistent? These are new characters 25 years on from Gears 3. They would not have the same executions. I love Gears but number 4’s multiplayer feels no different to Gears 3. That is my issue and as I said, it makes me appreciate 343 more

Fair point
This isn’t really related to halo 5 and will most likely be locked.

Totally related to Halo 5 until others took off topic. Its a comparison topic to another franchise and to discuss the move for both of these franchises to X1
I like how a series going back to its roots is considered bad now. /s
Awesome, take notes 343.
You can find cases to support all sides of this argument, so it really comes down to opinion.
H5 had significant gameplay changes from Halo 4, but lacked old game modes. It is considered to have been pretty successful so far.
Gears 4 apparently has little game play changes, with old modes available. It will probably be successful.
Counter strike has remained largely unchained for over 10 years, yet still does very well.
Whether or not you like what sequels being too the table is totally opinion based.

You just can’t be happy can you…
It happened to me the same with the DOOM beta. I appreciate much more Halo 5 now
The Coalition has learned about Judgment (“Reach” of Gears), thats all. Smart devs.
Except gears 3 was phenomenal and had a feature set halo fans should be envious of. It took the formula of gears 1 and 2 and improved on it without copying other titles. It’s called innovation. Crazy stuff.
Though I can’t speak for how gears 3 stood among the competitive community. I’m about in touch with competitive gears as I was with women in high school… I really wasn’t.

The old blow up doll scenario?

You want more advanced mechanics with less modes to use them on…? Wut? Gears 4 actually stays true to the fans.
By the way, endless get out of jail cards and high bullet magnetism/assist is not an advancement.

>
> Talking about GOW 4, this leads on to what H5 does right. Halo 5 feels like an advancement and it doesn’t feel like it employs copy and paste from previous Halo games. It does feel relatively next gen and it ‘feels’ different but still Halo at the same time.

> This is so important with sequels. To use the same assets and to make the same game over and over without changing things up, is boring.

> Big well done to 343 for trying different things with H5 and the execution from a gameplay perspective is great.
Yet Halo 5 sold the least coppies. Microsoft counted merchendise and anything Halo 5 related to make the game look bigger. It has such a low player count it is ridiculous. The majority of the original fans (aka the majority) have left. Halo 5 is only a success in everything but the game itself.
