I decided to play through Rumble Pro to try and get my AR/pistol commendation completed. I get a join in progress and play through the game losing by one. I had 18 AR kills.
Afterwards, I get a message from the person who placed first - “you suck btw”. I assume it was because I used an AR since he was using the almighty BR (which is normally my weapon of choice as of late). But I responded saying that I was willing to play Rumble pit 1 more time w/ him, but this time I would use the BR only. When he joins my lobby, he calls me a noob for wanting to play again in a “public lobby” and 1v1 was the way people settled things. (I’ve never 1v1’ed in H4 but I indulged him.) I gave him party leader…his settings, his map choice. Haven, Slayer Pro settings. He gets the first kill. I ring off two straight kills. I am low on ammo after the second kill and in the 4th encounter, with no ammo, I try to back off but he kills me. I then proceed to kill him two more times. Keep in mind there are power weapons on the map BUT I only used the BR. At this point it is 4-2, and he ends the game. He tells me I don’t know how to 1v1 because I was moving around the map too much. I was supposed to stay in one spot and fight. I literally facepalmed and told him to learn how to play Halo.
I feel like this probably happens to people who use automatics a lot. They probably get hateful messages or taunted in lobbies. I just want to apologize for the behavior of some of the -Yoinks!- out there who think they are better than everyone else b/c of the weapon they use. I consider myself an average player. These people will ACT like they are “MLG” players (he had the MLG tag in his gamer pic) but they are in fact just posers and DON’T represent the competitive community. It is people like them who give pro gamers and competitive ones(now AGL, etc) a bad rep. It is this sort of arrogant behavior that probably turns a lot of people off to Halo or rather why people get frustrated w/ the community. Anyway, I just wanted to rant and say I got a taste of the frustrations that others in the community have written about on the forums. I’m done

Exactly what I say to players who complain that I’m whipped them with Auto’s.
“Oh, you are such a noob for using the AR!”
Is the one complaint that Automatic users that are excellent players get as a message.
If they literally lost to the AR, why don’t they keep their distance? Is it really that hard? XD
I would imagine so. Despite that the AR and close range starting weapons are technically the most skillful and strategic weapons, it seems they get a lot of hate purely because people are ignorant.
The AR is a little too powerful for FFA. It is an ambush weapon in a gametype where nearly every encounter comes down to whoever has the least amount of people shooting at them. With the AR’s high aim assist and bullet magnetism, and the larger amount of close-quarters battles and questionable spawns in Free-For-All, the AR just doesn’t have a place off-spawn.
Ha, they just can’t fight back with their “almighty” BR or DMR. They’re the ones that really suck because they can’t counter a full automatic weapon designed for close range. Haha, just back away knowing that you win the battle by default.

The AR beats every weapon, aside from the other automatics, up close. Due to the close-quarters nature of FFA, it is difficult to near impossible to counter the AR.

Then why not use an AR? If it really is impossible to keep yourself at mid range on the FFA maps in Halo 4, what’s stopping you from using the AR and becoming better with it than your opponents?
Haha. I don’t want this to become an automatic versus precision rifle debate. It is just an example of the vitriol that some community members have to deal with b/c of something as innocent as their weapon choice. I am typically a BR user. I was just taken aback when someone antagonized me for using an AR. And if it happened to me in just a few games, it probably happens frequently for others in the community.

I either use the BR or AR in FFA. That does not mean that I disregard its effectiveness simply because I use it.

this is so true some dude got mad invited me into a 1v1 because i won only using an ar and a thruster pack. Sadly i lost considering i hadnt played in about 6 weeks before that match but still.

Yes, I strongly detest this kind of behavior.
He seems like he is one of those arrogant multiplayer kids/MLG tryhards who have probably never even touched campaign and see the Master Chief and Halo universe as a backdrop for his multiplayer. They think that they are superior to everyone else, but don’t listen to them. There are a lot of people like that in our world, unfortunately.
I’ve LITERALLY been bashed for beating DMR and BR users with a Suppressor and Storm Rifle in 1v1’s.
