NOW do you see why CoD does it right?

As most of you know, Call of Duty is the most hated gaming series since 2009, and every year a new installment comes out, people bash the game and its fans even harder. People claim that the game never changes, same mechanics, same this, same that. With the way how the community is reacting to Halo 4, and the way how the Gears of War community is reacting to the recently revealed changes to Gears of War Judgment (No more Locust in MP and no more Down But Not Out), can you at least see why Infinity Ward and Treyarch do what they do?

Although each Call of Duty doesn’t “innovate” each yearly installment, each game provides new tools and features that provide a fresh experience.

CoD 4 - WaW: WW2 setting, Zombies, Arcade Mode, all new guns, equipment, killstreaks that pertain to WW2.

WaW-MW2: Pro Perks, Customized Killstreaks, in depth challange system, Emblems, new game modes, Spec Ops, more available weapon attatchments.

MW2-Black Ops: Theater Mode, new time period, new killstreaks, better Zombies, CoD Points, Wager Matches.

Black Ops- MW3: Proficiencies, Assault Killstreaks, Support Killstreaks, Specialist Killstreaks, Survival Mode, Chaos Mode, Spec Ops, Face Off Mode.

MW3-Black Ops 2: Tranzit, Grief, and Survival Modes of Zombies, Branching Storylines, Pick 10 System, the ability to Live Stream from your Xbox, Free Elite, SIX campaign endings, Campaign Create-A-Class, League Play, Multi Team Battles, Score Streaks instead of Killstreaks, and the list goes on.

Obviously, there IS some change in Call of Duty, but it’s never on the level of complete innovation, but for a yearly franchise, it does enough to keep its fans, and provide fun until the next game.

Do you all now see why CoD is successful, and how it STAYS successful? Rather than innovation, more people need to pay attention to what IW/ 3arch does and keep each new game FRESH. If you change to much, look what happens.

COD was meant to be a casual game and it stuck to it. Halo did a complete 360 when Reach came out and the removal of the ranking system and I and many others didn’t like that. Turned Halo into a more casual game than COD and that doesn’t work.

That is the one thing I admire the most about the COD gaming franchise. They never change their core mechanics too much. They never make monumental changes like Halo has done in the past two installments. It just so happens that the two worst Halos were the past two installments.

The thing about CoD is that it’s casual friendly, not a casual’s game. There are some amazing competitive teams and players that play CoD. Call of Duty is easy to pick up and play, but very hard to master.

Opinion not fact.

Halo went a little far with its changes. But completely scrapping rank in Halo 4 was going too far.

I’ve watched MLG tournaments and have seen a lot of skillful players. I meant you can play COD and enjoy it win or lose. It’s hard to do that in Halo.

That’s one of the things I admire most too. CoD isn’t my favorite series by a long shot, but it is actually one of my favorite shooters as I’ve been playing it since 2003 because of how the formula doesn’t change each new game. When A new CoD is announced, CoD fans are excited to see what new features and toys we get to experience. When a new Halo game, or any other series, comes out, people spend time worrying about how bad the game might become due to changes.

And after a decade no one will be playing CoD either.

Yeah, I see what you mean. When my team is losing in CoD, we always have a chance to come back, but in Halo, once a big lead is established, it’s hard to do anything and it tends to get boring real fast.

CoD is annoying and not fun. It lost its “fun” after MW2. The “Pick 10 System” Ruined it. Also CoD is easy to master. WAY too easy. Halo outside of the Competitive side(Ranked and MLG like people whine about) is play like a noob to win or lose.

That’s an opinion lol. I personally think the Pick 10 system is one of the greatest things to be done to CoD because it actually innovated the create a class system. I NEVER used my secondary weapon, frag grenades, or tactical grenades, and now I don’t have to, and I can use those points to get a few more perks and an attachment.

That’s where halo brings a bit of reality to it’s gameplay, though. It has that definitive “point of no return” to matches, that made it good for MP. All I can tell you, is that if you’re losing, you haven’t mastered the game and it may get boring quickly but that’s the reality.

I never saw the point of AA’s. I don’t see what they do for the game at all. And removal of rank was the worst idea ever.

Why does it seem to be that everyone has completely forgot about CSR and the fact that Reach (Bungie’s creation) was the one that ditched Skill ranks not 4.

People bought Halo because it was Halo, it’s no longer Halo. The game turned into a casual crapfest and the devs didn’t even have the decency to add a classic playlist for the real fans.

Which must be why I stopped playing that crap after Black ops, because IW/Activision is doing something right. Its boring, and got old. I guess they must be doing something right, since they lost me as a customer, lol…

We can’t discuss what we don’t like about Halo 4? Get out
