The fact that he said they narrowed it down to a few weeks tells me it won’t be on the anniversary and may come sooner.

Nice! Glad to hear Phil talk about it and clarify what’s going on.
This does kind of feed into the theory that Halo Infinite may be getting a release date when another game like CoD gets it’s release date, seeing when the best time to drop Halo for the most users to jump on and play.
We’ll know by the end of summer what the release date is if I had to guess.
My feeling is that Infinite may release in December sometime. There have been some promotional material for xbox game pass where they talk about the next 6 months all having a game launching day one on game pass. July has Microsoft Flight Simulator, August is Psychonauts 2, October has both Back 4 Blood and Age of Empires IV, November has Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite is just shown as Holiday. Now Halo could theoretically come out in September because that is the other month beside December that doesn’t have any game pass game coming out, but if the release date is September then they need to start flighting asap. Also if the release date was a mere 3 months from now I think we would have already gotten a concrete date. Add to that Holiday usually doesn’t indicate September so December is looking increasingly likely. I guess it could launch the latter half of November as well. I have too much time to speculate on different release dates and not enough answers.
I have soooo much annual leave saved up because of last year. Gonna take a week strait as soon as I know the date, aha!

i just hope it isn’t 5th to 10th of November as I am away with work. The Horizon 5 launch is around then so I’m confident it won’t but it will be nice to get it confirmed and booked off work.
i’m not sure what to make of that…it’s not a months thing but a weeks. Does that mean the game is coming out in a few weeks? or have they narrowed it down to a specific week in the holiday season? couldn’t be more vague.

Gamescom 2021 would be the best time to announce the flighting and campaign release date, they need to start the marketing for campaign 4 5 months before the release.

I’m not sure they need to announce a flight at a event. Anyone who is signed up and selected will get the notification immediately. They’re already marketing the flight as it is. Once a flight is released, you can’t sign up and then get access so I can’t see them announcing a flight for people to not have access. Maybe a flight date at most? Gives people time to sign up but even then it’s a “chance to play Infinite” and not guaranteed like it is with MCC. I feel like marketing “a chance to play” on a industry level stage isn’t a great idea.
A release date at GamesCom is a potential but I honestly think they’re just waiting to see when competitors in the market are dropping their titles before they lock in a date for the game.
They can easily market outside of a event through social media and ads

Probably the latter. I think they are trying to time the release in harmony with battlefield 2042 which is oktober 22nd. So we got a real shot here at getting it before december!
I wouldn’t worry about cod or battlefield, cod will just be another recycled game and battlefield will be another frostsh*te tech demo with gameplay tacked on.
Forza Horizon 5 is the reason why the release date hasn’t been set.
It has nothing to do with CoD or BF.
Microsoft simply doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake EA did in 2016,
launching Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 just a week apart.
Titanfall 2 flopped majorly because Battlefield took all the spotlight.
Now MS will want to have a set timeframe between both of those games, so the one won’t “outshine” the other.
This also fits with the statement he made during this interview:
