For Anniversary, I’d like to see the novels The Fall of Reach and First Strike as Campaign DLC, or maybe independent games. Who agrees?
I would LOVE to see stories like the mona lisa and head hunters being made into DLC. The perfect blend of stealth and survival.
an instant yes from me!!!
also i have always wanted them to do this sort of thing, rather than just sending out new maps for multiplayer, they should do side stories, i would pay anyday to play an halo side storie
All the way!
I would like to see The Ghost of Onyx as its own game. Since it takes place around the War on Earth, and it has other Spartans involved.
i would like to have a covenant campaing, a pur covy campaing, either attacking the humans or something else
The novels would not translate well as games.

Right, they wouldn’t be as half as deep in characters development, but I think it’d be really worth it.
What about if every unit (in digital and physical) of every Halo novel from now on came with a download code for a DLC? And that DLC is to play the first and last chapters of the book?
After all, I don’t think they should focus so much in turning an entire book into a game. What do you think?

Meh, I feel they’d make for better set pieces for firefight/multiplayer maps or as stand alone campaign levels. There’s a lot to the books, and a lot of that which makes them enjoayble isn’t in combat so structuring, say, Contact Harvest aorund a full 8 hour campaign is bound to produce something as dull insubstantial as Halo Reach.
Better, then, to be selective about what we present from the other parts of the franchise to work with the limitations of this brand of FPS.
I think we were discussing something like this in the thread below. I agree not sure if it should be DLC or whatever but I think there should be some playable version of the novels. Since that would be unique and pretty awesome. Star Wars does that they base things from the books directly and so does Lord of the Rings as well. Why not Halo as well?

Because Halo is much more restricted as a linear first person shooter. The closest you come, here, in your analogy is shadows of the empire, and that wasn’t quite a 1:1 port of page to pixels or even a particularly good game when you came down to it (at least compared to Jedi Knights.)
You have to strech, you have to cut, and you do tend to loose a lot in that process. Hell, it’s hard enough to make a decent film out of a good book, and with the added burden of gameplay it’s even harder to fit a rich narrative into a series of halls and pits linked by mini-movies.
I guess not the whole novels, but I like the idea about having a DLC code in the novel to access a certain scene(s) in the novel that would work out well in a game. Live the Genny Defense part where the Marines are all but wiped out in First Strike. It goes unnarrated; game form (Firefight map perhaps?) would be pretty cool.
That would be awsome!
I think side story dlc missions is a great idea however I also think that if 343i tried to translate the novels into game form so much would be lost in the process. I think the way to go would be firefight maps recreating significant battles in the novels, some stand alone campaign missions revealling new back stories, perhaps playing as another of the spartans and maybe even some more space battles. Imagine holding off waves of enemy ships and avoiding heavy plasma fire to buy Keyes enough time to perform the famous Keyes loop. I’d pay for that.
On a simpler level how about having a progressive firefight map with terminal like things as you go?
