-Nov. 6th- A Wise Decision Realistically?

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/122/1223931p1.html You Decide.

CoD’s release won’t effect Halo 4’s sales simply b/c it’s an Xbox exclusive and CoD is third-party.

Most gamers will be picking up both anyway seeing how they are the top two franchises on the 360.

I’m not tryin to be a jerk or anything, but I think that everyone in this forum knew that another CoD was gonna be released this year, and I’m pretty sure everyone assumed it’d be released in November. I don’t think that the fact that it’s been confirmed to be Black Ops 2 makes much of a difference.

I doubt Halo 4 will out sell CoD (unfortunately), but I do think that it’ll still sell very well. And at least H4 will hit the shelves a week earlier than Black Ops 2.

I think Halo can outsell CoD on the 360, but definitely not overall since CoD sells on multiple platforms. Hype is going to be everything, and right now Halo has more. What each game showcases at E3 will be crucial.

Perhaps 343 wants to see how much people are actually intrested in halo then cod.

For example Instead of the C.O.D kids jumping on halo right off the bat they will obviously go to that game instead and we will see the numbers halo truly has at launch.

Wow. This is clearly an all-out challenge from 343i to Treyarch or vice versa idk. I think that Halo 4 will probably beat Black Ops 2 in sales on Xbox 360 as people were disappointed by the first one and CoD has been going downhill for me ever since Modern Warfare 1 which was the last great CoD game. CoD will probably outsell Halo 4 overall as it is a multi-platform franchise while Halo is exclusive to Xbox. Hopefully this CoD can bring about some necessary changes and become less n00b friendly than previous installments.

I think this is the only benefit that from Day ONE we will see where the fans lay. Personally, those numbers of CoD suck the life out of many things… IMO it was a bad decision to release it so soon to BO2…

Poll is broken.

343 had no more of an idea that BO2 would come out Nov. 13 then we did. They learned about the date today just like everyone else. There is no way 343 planed something that elaborate.

Yeah, Halo definitely won’t be able to outsell a major multi platform game like CoD overall. On Xbox 360? Maybe…

E3 will definitely have a major impact on the future of both games.

And even though I’m not gonna be buying it, I’m honestly a little curious to see a little bit of Black Ops 2… I mean, I keep hearing that this game is going to be set in the near future (about 10-15 years), but I don’t see how that’s possible, since the first Black Ops took place in the 60s (I think?). Unless they just write a whole new story… But then it wouldn’t really be Black Ops 2, would it? I’m intrigued to see how this plays out…

Idk about you but 120 dollars in the manner of 7 days after Halo 4 comes out is quite crazy to spend in total.

It’ll be a battle to death, the clash of two titans, Halo and CoD.
Halo was the biggest this gen but CoD outgrow it eventually, however lately CoDs sales has been down and the giant might fall. MS and 343i makes the decision to deliver a final blow, one that might topple CoD forever.
MS needs Halo to be as strong as ever since this is likely the last Halo we’ll see before the 720 is released, and MS needs console buyers to be faithful to Halo, not CoD. Releasing the long awaited sequel to their best selling trilogy while the opponent seems to have lost steam?
Brilliant move, MS can take lower sales and still live to see another day thanks to other games, xbox consoles, and windows/office. Activision on the other hand is running out of games, Guitar Hero is dead, same goes for Tony hawk, WoW is loosing players every year and CoD is losing buyers, not a pretty sight). If CoD dies, Activision will have a very hard time, while the same goes for MS and xbox if the Halo players were to migrate to CoD.

Where are you people getting this false information that sales are down??? Each CoD has surpassed previous game with each new release, so what is everyone talking about?!

Not sure about the numbers, but from the people I talk to, the die-hard CoD fans hated Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2 is probably why Black Ops did so well in the first place, people thought it’d be the same exact thing. I don’t think Black Ops 2 will sell as well as MW3 or the first Black Ops. Not saying it won’t make money, just saying I don’t think it’ll be record breaking this time around. Halo 4 has a real chance to out do CoD this time around. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Halo had november 6th first, and has sold close to COD titles in the past, and they’ve still done great. If your a Halo fan, you’ll buy Halo, if your a COD fan, you’ll buy COD.

Sorry, but it seems like you’ve missed the news. Since I’m Swedish I can only link to swedish gaming magazines, but they have confirmed that CoD MW3 sales were in fact 4,2% lower then those of Black Ops.
Though, the biggest drop happened on PC, on consoles 360 users are buying “elite” as if it was going out of style :stuck_out_tongue:

Point is Halo had an advantage to sell more because of its September release dates, months before CoD. Now, people are gonna have to choose only ONE in most cases… and where do you think that ONE will go?

This is true. If you like halo you buy Halo 4, if your a Treyarch/COD fan you will buy Black Ops 2. If you like both (like me) you will buy both.

It doesn’t always have to be a competition about who is best because they are both great in their own ways.

I think probably the main reason why people will be getting Black Ops 2 would be for the zombie mode. A lot of people actually really didn’t like the competitive multiplayer on the other hand.

I think Halo 4 has a good chance of getting some serious sales numbers on the Xbox. If 343i really makes the marketing of this game top notch, I believe it will bring a lot of players into Halo.
