Noticeable host advantage.

I just played a match where my shots, and most noticeably grenade throws had a 1sec delay.

It was on the bad standard that Gears of war 1&2 are known for.

I admit, that these matches are rare, but they are there.

I remember how we used to request for dedicated servers, before launch. I guess that 343i doesn’t value the franchise enough to provide us with dedicated servers.

I love how everyone whines about EA being so evil and money hungry but yet all of there games run on EA dedicated servers.

I literally almost never get host. When I do it’s amazing.

When that happens I quit and join a new game, which takes all of 20 seconds. I don’t see why this is an important issue.

> I literally almost never get host. When I do it’s amazing.

I usually don’t notice, when I’m host, or have a good connection to the host.

All I notice is delay.

In Gears of war 1&2, you notice right away.

Are there no downsides to dedicated servers?

> When that happens I quit and join a new game, which takes all of 20 seconds. I don’t see why this is an important issue.

Because quitting is bad.

Can’t be worse than the lag in black ops.

Christ, it’s horrendous.

> Are there no downsides to dedicated servers?

Depends, if they aren’t regional than yes, there are downsides.

Based of Epic’s regional dedicated servers, you connect through the nearest ones in your location. They work wonderful.

Games that show no visible signs of lag are filled with complete BS moments. Bullet sponges every where. Really, count the registered hits with that feature that show lines around your reticule, and you begin to realise that your hitting him but he isn’t dropping. Not to mention all the weapons that are inconsistent in their power (boltshot, needler, saw, railgun etc…).

Worst thing is, in the very rare game where you can actually see lag, its as if the game bends over backwards to get you the kill. Seriously. The lag compensation in this game appears to put those with better connections at a disadvantage.

Haha, having host in Halo 4 is practically like having a few mods in CoD, since your practically unstoppable if your a very good player.

343 this simply isn’t fair, just saying.I thought cheating was described as getting a unfair advantage.Apparently pulling host in Halo 4 gets pardoned from this.

Now 343, for the sake of fairness for all Halo online gaming, give us dedicated servers.I/We know you can afford it.Yes this will make everybody happy.

I agree, a yellow bar in Black ops will make the enemy’s health 2x as big.

Not even that.

I’ll be playing and shooting a guy plenty of times, but when I watch the killcam I’m standing still.

Around E3 2012, the forum was filled with dedicated server requests.

You probably have a pretty good connection. Mine is terrible. Like, unbelievably so.

I hope that your connection will improve, when dedicated servers become more prevalent.

Hopefully, in the next next generation.

It was like this in halo 3 i believe. Or it switched hosts in intervals of ten seconds or something. idk. but host usually always has the advantage.

Now that you mentioned it, I’ve noticed that Halo 4 rarely has any kind of host migration or black screens going on, during matches.

On the other hand, Reach and Halo 3 have around 3 black screens, usually, through the match.

I wasn’t aware of that, I thought that Battlefield was an exception.

I literally, literally, just played a game where there was 3 host migrations. Fun fact, host migrations restart your killing sprees.
