This is just percussion and some strings, and still, it manages to be much cooler, epic, and all around more badass than any songs on Halo 4’s soundtrack. 343, I want music like this back in the Halo series. Just because it’s “a new saga” doesn’t mean that you leave out the oldest and most iconic themes from the series. It’s a main Halo game, so it should sound like one.
I used to have the same opinion as the OP until i opened my mind up and started listening to tracks such as; Revival, Nemesis, Haven, 117 etc. While i do believe that traditional music should return, i don’t think the new music deserves to be undermined. The new music is good, it just needs the assistance of old themes to help the feel of the series fall into place. P.S. Revival is my favourite of the lot.
“Sounding like Halo” is a completely subjective opinion. Personally, the new music “sounds like Halo” allot more than Marty’s ever did (Aside from ODST)
Although I like all of the new music that Niel Davidge has created, I don’t think they should have ever removed the chanting monks. That was/is one of the most iconic video game franchise themes ever.
Halo 4’s soundtracks are underrated, people need to understand that Neil and Kazuma have a different style than marty’s. And there are many soundtracks in Halo 4 that still reminds me of the first trilogy.
> Okay, but are you going to at least contribute to the topic at hand? I won’t hurt you if you speak your opinion, I pinky promise! :3333333
I did though. What more is there? All the games had sci-fi type music that suites Halo, 4’s was new since creepy things like Forerunners/Prometheans coming into play, fighting the Covies again and Cortana going insane.
I agree. Although this op is kinda bias I see what its actually takling about. The music is part of the formula that gives Halo its “Halo feel” I felt nothing in 4. IMO of course, I did liked the sound of Halo over Halo 3 remastered part but I loved Halo Wars` soundtrack. “Fingerprints are Broken”, “Spirit of Fire”, they fit the Halo sound perfectly. However to whom each their own.

There’s still chanting monks on some, they’re just female now instead of male.

Since when were “Revival’s” chanting monks female?

I believe he was referring to tracks such as “Atonement” and “Legacy”.
I really appreciated Tom Salta’s work on the Halo series, as his is more reminiscent of that authentic Halo feel that I know and love. He seems to want to preserve the old atmosphere of the Halo games while also adding his own touch to it, and it works absolutely well. I honestly hope that Salta is the new composer for the series as he has a better general direction for the games’ soundtracks.

Even so, I believe “Nemesis” showcases male monks, I don’t get why he implies all are female. Even if for two tracks.

I always heard both male and female voices in Nemesis, but Revival is certainly all male.

Ok, the point was that the poster mentioned only female monks in a disappointed way. I don’t understand why.
