In the latest bullitin, 343 has made it clear that they seek to expand the game with title updates that do more than just fix things like in previous Halo games.
So far, they said they are going to track skill data and figure out a way to present it in a useful way to the player (still no guarantee that it won’t be some dumb arena or K/D glorification but its a start).
They also mention that they are fond of the clan system (yay!)and will add game options (ability to drop the flag) in updates.
Alright, now I have the same excitement as I did 4 days before the launch of Halo 2 and 3. Let the games begin.

While i’m extremely happy for anyone who is done complaning, as obviously it’s ideal when people can just have a good time, but dear God…
I would also like to just say, don’t get your hopes up. Last thing we need is everyone who was complaining to see this as a solution and everything they dislike will be fixed to their liking, and then when it turns out it isn’t as good as you hoped or not what you expected even though they promised nothing…everyone starts making even more threads about it and complaining further saying “they lied to us so we’d buy the game etc.”
If they follow through with this and hold their word I will be pleasantly surprised. Nobody wants to hate 343i, but it just seems like a portion of the player base is getting neglected. We are all passionate about Halo for different reasons and some of us really enjoy the competitive nature of skill based matchmaking and the feeling of going up or going down based on your performance. I really hope that if they do plan on implementing it, they do it relatively soon before people abandon ship and give up on H4. Please 343i you are in charge of a very powerful vessel, please steer it in the right direction. Then all of us competitive players will eat our words! Prove us wrong, Show us you care! We will forever love you if you do.
I really don’t think 343i understands what ranking is. They say they might add something that gives us access to that information on the ui in the future.
Ranking is a Ladder system. Not some hidden personal statistical information they decide to show us later.
