… Has to be canon. Am I the only one who thinks that this whole simulation thing is confusing, contradicting, and just plain cheesy?
Confusing because why would spartans train by fighting each other? They should be fighting against the covenant and the Prometheans!
Contradicting because there is no way a pizza ar is canon.
Cheesy because of said pizza ar.
Keep the story telling out of multiplayer because many people don’t want it. What we want is fighting on distant worlds filled with beautiful scenery that doesn’t necessarily have to make sense with the story. We want to play as elites and like I, and many others, have suggested; Prometheans and possibly even brutes be playable. Pizza skin assault rifles wouldn’t be as bad if the multiplayer wasn’t emphasized on being a training simulation. And things like forge toys, (soccer ball, die, golf club and ball), shouldn’t/will not exist. I know it doesn’t TRULY affect gameplay, but I feel like the whole thing was just unnecessary. Your thoughts?
I actually really dislike it when games try to give multiplayer games like shooters a story for no reason. It always seems forced or just weird and I love story based games with loads of lore.
I simply pretend that the multiplayer is completely isolated that way I can be ignorant to the idea that pizza guns are canon along with these dumb armours.

Too bad we’re dealing with devs with an IQ equivalent to a loaf of bread.

I made several. My main point is that it just doesn’t make sense.
Whaaa?
Spartans did train by fighting each other…
Troll?

So what? Games don’t have to be completely guided by lore.

Training by fighting each other, I can understand. But multiplayer being considered this portion of the training is unnecessary. Being tbagged by someone wielding a french fry magnum isn’t training. Heck, they even broke the 4th wall with the mister chief and 343 weapon skins.
the days when it was just a simple game of red vs blue with no explanation as to why they are even doing what they are doing…tho on topic idc really as long as the multiplayer gameplay is good

So what?
I was responding to the OP, as he asked:
“Confusing because why would spartans train by fighting each other?”
I was explaining that the OP need not be confused because Spartans did in fact train by fighting each other. So it all ties in nicely

Eh?
They did train by fighting each. So if we need a game mode that is Spartans fighting Spartans, why not use that lore? Why force something to be different when the truth explains it nicely?
The childish skins are a different all together though and pretty cringey, so agree on that.
Where has it been confirmed that the skins are canon though?

They are training. They just ate some french fries and they need to do some extra squats to work off the extra calories.

Just because we’re not playing as Elites right now doesn’t me we can’t, period. MP being canon does not take away the ability to load into the simulation as the “enemy” simply because we aren’t right now.

Spartan vs Spartan warfare is coming. The Insurrectionists have SIV’s and the MJOLNIR manufacturers are obviously corrupt (read the REQ cards).
-
In our real world… Do we just sign up soldiers and send them off with no training because there’s no point in “internally fought/played wargames”?
Why do friendly countries hold wargames/competitions with each other if they don’t plan on fighting each other?
The rules in place have not created ANYTHING you fear.
War Games is canon, but not the specifics of multiplayer gameplay.
The spartans run simulations against each other in order to find each other’s weak points. Also, due to warzone the spartans in fact do train in simulations against covenant and prometheans.
I see what you did there!

he (and i myself) dont like it when they try to give the multiplayer a story like this. he would rather 343 go back to the way bungie did it(or atleast not have a story to it)

This is a simulation, so if anything it’s meant to simulate real world situations, particularly the most likely and dangerous ones. You know, like fighting covenant or prometheans.
Yea I agree. It’s multiplayer. If it has to logically be explained to someone they don’t get it.

Maybe the War Games that we participate in actually aren’t canon. In Halo Escalation the Spartans were playing Invasion in the War Games, but we can’t. Also at this point we can’t play Oddball, KoTH and all of those other gametypes. But you would think that the Spartans would have full access to every gamemode in the War Games database. This might mean that War Games as a whole are canon, but the ones we do aren’t.
