Not that this is going to make any difference

Alright, let me start off by saying I have been playing halo since the beginning. Halo combat evolved all the way through 4, (even halo wars for a short time). In addition to this, i have been sitting back and watching the forums for a little while (a couple of months) and I have seemed to notice a trend. For some unknown reason the people posting on this forum seem to think that halo 4 is the worst thing to happen to the halo franchise. I am tired of seeing everyone gallivanting around the forums like they own the damn thing, or like they own halo in general. Thank 343 for making another halo. halo reach could have been all you people were left with until the population slowly dwindled and became so insignificant that they shut the servers down. But no, it seems to me that everyone who is whining and complaining all seem to have one general theme.

“WE WERE BETRAYED!”

How? 343 never said it was gonna be halo 3 all over again,(like so many of you so desperately want it to be, they even made specific points to say that they were taking halo into a new direction. I personally think that its a good direction. To me it still feels like halo (inb4 “did you even play halo 3?” yes, over 7,000 match made games worth to be exact.) It feels like a new, different halo. Which is what the franchise needed. Yes there may be some mistakes, balancing seems to be a big issue with everyone (even though you people say the DMR is the best thing all day every day, and here i am pulling a decently positive K/D with my “useless” battle rifle, hell i can even pull positive with the carbine.) (and that’s coming from a player who never made it to 50 in halo 3, only 45.) I have also played a good bit of COD. (inb4 COD LOVER! just so you know i love both equally) and COD suffers from this same problem, mainly in the first Black ops. People went parading on the forums that “this gun is too powerful” or “this perk is the best, why use anything else” long story short same crap, different forum. All that whining got the game so many patches it wasn’t funny, treyarch nerfed something everytime the community complained, and it became an endless cycle, either you have to put everyone on the same level playing field with absolutely no customization, or there will be an inherently “better” class setup. Always has been this way, always will be. Lets speculate for a moment that they do nerf the DMR, guess whats next, the good ole BR (well, maybe not so much in this case cause we all know halo fans love their precious little BR, if its not the best, they throw a -Yoink- fit.

TL:DR = this is halo 4, not halo 3,2,1 reach, or wars (oh god wars). Adapt or quit, 343 got their money, and personally they dont have any obligation to keep listening to you bunch of 10 year old acting forum goers. For those of you who are helpful, good on you, stay classy. For the rest of you, please do quit the game. please.

Phantom

P.S. IDGAF about people trying to tell me im wrong or argue my points, i may not even check this post after this. i just wanted to throw my 2 cents in the bucket. Im happy, if your not, get out.

You’re right, this is not going to make a difference.

Lovely way to promote intelligent discussion.

However, I do kinda agree with some of your points. What players were expecting Halo 4 to be just wasn’t going to happen. We all thought Halo 4 could knock CoD off the top spot but that’s not going to happen.

What saddens me more than anything here is that rather than the ‘fans’ posting ideas or constructive criticism here, they just spew out useless, repetitive garbage that makes me want to just pack up and leave.

I’d have to agree with you on this, and I try not to post any negative comments unless its a small bit of constructive criticism. Thats how forums are supposed to be, though people degrade themselves into a drevel of trolls. There has never been a game so openly negative from its own fanbase other than the COD forums. Today, tomorrow, yesterday, whether you and I are here, people are going to continue down this path.

Really? Where did anyone get that idea…I really wouldn’t want to challenge the series that beat every other media in sales history. I was expecting a great game to play with my friends with.

Did people really think it would knock CoD out of it’s throne?

you just pretty much said exactly what im feeling. when i enter the forums, i dont want to see 14/ 15 of the posts on the top to be about how bad 343 is at making games. For some people the word forum might as well say “complaint box”.

@OP:

Damn right.

Bunch of ungrateful children…

> Halo reach could have been all you people were left with until the population slowly dwindled and became so insignificant that they shut the servers down.

I’d be ok with that. I shouldn’t have to remind everyone that Halo 2 remained insanely popular even with a lot of people playing it on their 360’s. How is it possible that a game made for a previous generation’s hardware was still addictive and maintained a quality population? Simple: It was that good.

Halo 4 isn’t that good.

I agree with you fully. I actually refuse to use the DMR unless I need to take out a far away camper/SWAT…because SWAT. Why confine yourself to one weapon when each one works perfectly in its intended range?

I’m pretty fond of the carbine myself but I’ve been using the AR recently and still tend to go positive in my matches. Even in big team.

I think the only thing that will knock CoD off the top spot, is CoD. If they stagnate (which they are tending to do) eventually fans will get tired of plunking down $60 for the exact same game. Once new consoles are released, if Activision just keeps with a similar engine and playstyle…people are going to start getting upset. I don’t think any other game has the insane install base of CoD, so dethroning it will be nigh impossible until the fans start to wane.

Anyway, I knew that Halo 4 was going to be different and actually didn’t pre-order it. I waited until I could see some gameplay videos and reviews…which got me all excited for some Halo again. It still feels like Halo to me, just more fast-paced. I used to play SWAT 80% of the time, but now I have a healthy mix of gametypes.

Sure there could be some different gametypes, but the game has been out for 2 and a half months. It’s a new trilogy, so I’m treating it as such. Halo 4 is the CE of the trilogy, Halo 5 will blow everyone away (what with the neXtBox and all) and Halo 6 will become the new Halo 3.

Even reading negative comments from people (and defending the game I love) makes me want to play it more. Probably going to go do that now actually…

“Not that this is going to make any difference”

It seems like you don’t even care what the community’s input is; so why even ask?

How many is this today? sheesh I’ve been playing since HCE too and you know what I still play and I don’t care if you don’t.
Ohhh Waaaiiiit I jumped the gun on that sorry It’s nice to read something different

What you’re lableing as “that good” should actually say nostalgia, the memory poison

“WE WERE BETRAYED”

How?.."

You are asking the community how they were betrayed, no? Or did you literally ask yourself that question so you could just answer it to yourself and then post it on the forums?

Its called a rhetorical question, if i wanted an answer i wouldn’t have answered it myself. Anything opposite of what i put would be arguing, and as i said. i dont care.

Well you at least felt the need to rant about it.

> Its called a rhetorical question, if i wanted an answer i wouldn’t have answered it myself. Anything opposite of what i put would be arguing, and as i said. i dont care.

Then why did you post? Why ask a rhetorical question designed to spark thought and debate if you don’t care? Why waste your time and ours if you don’t care?

I would set your collective hopes low for Halo 5 & 6, because they WILL be in the same vein as halo 4. Everything that is in this game will be in those. probably to add even more hated features, no beta testing and even shorter ranking system. There will be 5000 pieces of armor and we will spawn with rockets/snipes.

yep, felt like ranting and was tired of seeing people whining.

I don’t think you understand the purpose of a rhetorical question… It’s not supposed to be answered and should still prove a point.

But okay, good job ranting.
