Everytime I go into matchmaking and win 3+ in a row I never rank up in diamond but as soon as I lose one game I drop. Also with HCS I can never go up in rank after winning a few. Happens in arena, slayer, and hcs. I’m not the greatest halo player by any means but ranking is a joke if you can barely move up. Anyone else have similar issues??!?
All depends on the competition you face. You beat lesser opponents, you get lesser gains, but get greater losses if you lose. Beat greater opponents, get more gains, and get lesser losses for losing. And losses and gains are more or less even when facing people closer to your level.
To really scale the ranks, you need a squad. Going solo, you can’t depend on the quality of your random teammates from game to game. So it’s pretty hard to string together enough consecutive victories to make it out of a tier.
I run with squads and we’re all the same rank and we won 9/10 and I started at diamond 1 and stayed diamond 1. I understand the whole playing lower ranks gets you less xp and higher you get more but I feel that once you get ranked in high diamond or oynx the only way to rank up is teams and you have to win every game. Can’t believe I didn’t go up one rank.
There is literally a post talking this exact same issue. You could of posted there… the Subject read Losing CSR vs Winning CSR or something close to it. Just so you know, your post might get closed. Also, I just looked at some of your games and it looks like you were gaining and losing the same amount of CSR, so I really don’t know what you’re talking about…
Yea dman I’m just making this up… why even post on here and say something like that??? I will start taking screenshots of it then. I won 8/10 and didn’t rank up again. Like you typed a whole paragraph telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about and that my thread will be closed. Im asking serious questions not asking fr trolls.
Because the games you’re winning is against lesser-skilled opponents and the games you’re losing are that same tier, so you’re losing more for losing to lesser-skilled players than you. This means your rank is evening out and Matchmaking CSR is getting a better long-term rank at what your skill level is. I’m just saying if atmfter multiple seasons you say you’re “stuck” at Diamond 1, then realistically your overall skill is equivalent to that.
Not stuck I was oynx every season except the last 2-3 and it seems harder to rank up in every playlist even by winning. I mean i guess I understand that I am a diamond player but even when I win I never go up it makes matchmaking very frustrating to play. Thanks for input guys!!!
C02 so for instance I played with a party of plats and golds and won 8/10 and didn’t rank up. The two we lost made me drop to diamond 1 from diamond 2. Since the other teams were even silvers and golds I didn’t get much csr. Makes sense now. Thanks again!

I feel your pain. If you want a better explanation go straight to the source. Dr Menke (ZaedynFel) is the man that created the ranking system and posts and replies regularly in the Matchmaking Feedback Update thread.
So today I partied with all oynx and we beat 4 champs in a row and won a lot and they all went up 120csr minimum and went from diamon 1 to diamond 2. Please tell me that’s not right…

Well, assuming you started the day as a Diamond 1 before partying up with the Onyxes, 120 CSR would have gotten you to Diamond 3.
I just got my diamond 3 1 game after that party. So that makes sense. Just crazy how they go from 1600 to almost 1800 and I’m barely moving up diamonds. lol thanks though guys!!
