So the Scout helmet (Celox) has finally come back to the store and it’s $12. Sorry, but I’m never going to pay for a bundle that costs more than a pass for just a single item. I want that helmet 343i just let me get it you jerks. I have absolutely no interest in the rest of the bundle so I’m looking at it as a $12 helmet. No, just no.
Edit:
Oh hey guess what, I was going through old topics because the forums are getting shut down at the end of March and I found the topic I made when they first put Celox in the store back in May 2022. It was $12 then too. They never even reduced the price. They just tossed it back in at full price. What the actual F 343i?
In thay case, individually, the pieces would still be expensove anyways. The point of a bundle is to by a combo for a smaller price than buying individuals.
If the bundle was $12 dollars but the helmet is the most popular, buying just that individually would cost $6-8 dollars. and the rest is probably just $3-4 depending on how much items in the shop. In the end, you are still paying 10 dollars for the set credit store.
Its how all business works. You cant expect the helmet individually to be a dollar.
But OP’s argument is that he just wants the helmet and for less than the bundle - I’m sure $6-$8 is still better than $12, and the savings will be much higher if there are other singular items they ever want as well. I feel like part of the problem is that the store is quite finite each week also, for store buyers it probably feels like a long time between seeing things they want, which is counter-intuitive for a MTX system.
Yes thats fine, but I just plan to inform people if they unrealistically think an item individually isn’t still 70% of the bundle product. Otherwise the second complaint would just be individually is too expensive, then riot for a cheaper individual price-- which has already happened btw.
I feel the cosmetics should all have an individual price. Or at least all the armor, effects, ai, voices should have individual prices… Emblems and coatings could be bundles as when you get an emblem you should be able to put it on armor, vehicles, and weapons.
It’s disappointing to see how limited and expensive customizing your Spartan has become in Halo. Remember the marketing campaign for Infinite and the promise of more freedom? It seems like 343 has a different concept of customization than the fan base.
In contrast, games like Destiny offer seemingly endless ways to customize your character without spending a dime. You can apply colors and shades to any piece of armor, resulting in unique combinations that are rarely duplicated by other players.
Except we cannot actually purchase individual items. Imagine going shopping for new shoes, but the store only sells bundles. So you are looking for a nice pair of $100 kicks, but you have to spend $500 on that bundle that includes things you don’t like or care about. That’s hardly a good deal. If 343 allowed us to purchase any individual thing at any time then the bundles would actually make sense.
This is completely ignoring the rest of my comment after that sentence. The shoe wouldn’t even be $100 dollars out of the $500. If the shoes were the main item, and the rest were minor, the shoe would just be $400 dollars the least.
A bundle is probably the cheapest way. Were it sold separately, I wouldn’t imagine it would be cheaper individually. Then people would complain that it costs more. While I agree there should be an individual price, I could foresee people complaining in the exact same way.
And also, you are getting multiple items with your $12, not just the helmet.
Since Launch I’ve honestly hate that every item is in a bundle. its basically to “inflate” prices via packing random stuff. Killing Floor 2 started this back in 2019 with their paid weapon DLC, where you’d pay 10 bucks for 1 gun and 5 skins, which you can break it down to 5 dollars for the gun, and 1 dollar for each skin. Infinite does the same thing with how the store works. true you get more items, but in OP’s situation, he doesn’t want those other items and just wants the helm. In turn they want 1 item and 12 baggage items. Frankly I’m in the same boat with the cat ears (sue me) cause i just want the ears and not the charm or emblems.
speaking of emblems, those along with the shoulders and armor coatings are what mainly pumps the prices. example is said bundle. it advertises 13 pieces…lets look at what we get:
1 Helm
1 Helm attachment
1 Visor
2 Shoulders
1 pair of Gloves
1 Knee Guards
1 coating
4 emblems
so out of the 13 items, 2 are shoulders (which should be together like in MCC), and 4 are emblems (you really telling me separating emblems are important? it’s why we had that 1 emblem as a weekly 4 times). we can also add the helm attachment since from the looks of it, that attachment is helm exclusive…sooo in turn, half the bundle is redundant. I could never really break down how everything could be priced w/ the rarities and such. + bundles with items of the same rarity never break down the same. heck I think in dec 2021, I made a few charts of breaking it down, but they’re a bit trash lol
This as well… I rarely use my actual money on gaming now a days and when I do it’s not a lot. I pretty easily earn $10 worth of points every month. Then when it builds up to about $30 I will spend some of it. Just got quite a few games on sale this month. The quality of games are so low now a days I don’t want to buy any of them until they are on sale. I don’t know if I will ever buy another game when it launches.
Omg! I never thought about how just one skin costs MORE THAN THE ENTIRE BP! This is absurd! Fortunately e have had items return as well as some really cheap things(75cr) so I am excited for all shop related changes in S3.
P.S. The new HCS series skins look sick on SPI so you will definitely see me rocking those!
The amount of mental gynamstics going on to justify this is hilarious.
Its utterly ridiculous that its 12 dollars for 1 item. Even if it was 11 dollars for the helmet by itself, the helmet is still overpriced AND they’re making you pay extra for stuff you don’t care about.
That’s really good advice for compulsive, addicted shoppers. Do you tell people with overeating problems to just eat that chocolate cake if it makes them happy?
Having the item would make me happy, but having to pay for it will not. It sours the look and experience. If I do buy it then every time I see it I’m reminded that it cost me way to much money and then I hate it. So in the end I’m not happy. I’m unhappy without it and I loath the cost.
Also @Ben_Mccrash that’s what I do for battle passes, but I will not pay for store content. It’s overpriced and poorly managed. If we give them what they’re asking for with the way they’re running things then we’ll never see it change because they only care they’re getting paid and it’s working. I will not give them anything while this is how they run the shop.
