NOT my Idea

I was going around YouTube and I saw this:

“I think a really cool thing for them to do would be instead of a social lobby, like you’d see in Reach, and Halo 3, you would start off inside of the Infinity, as your multiplayer spartan, and be able to walk around to different doors marked “Campaign”, “Multiplayer” etc… And every other Spartan in your party would be on the Infinity with you. Anyone else think this would be kinda a cool idea?”

Personally, I think that it is not a good idea but I thought that someone on forum might like it.

been suggested a few times. Would be interesting but like people said it’d be a bit of a waste of space when menus work just as well

I do agree that this would be awesome to explore the Infinity and be able to interact with other people but there really is no point to it. Especially on the xbox 360 since it apparently has reached its limits.

Everyone on your friends list should be seen walking onboard with you…I like the idea

Kind of like Mech Assault 2.

I agree with those above me, sounds like a Great idea, but it may be Extremely difficult to implement seeing as how it’s affected by those friends of yours who are online. It may make more issues than is needed. I like the idea, don’t get me wrong, but it may be more work than it’s worth.

what if it is made so the xbox waypoint(or a new download thing) is this? and we could then go to rooms that are marked “video” “gallaris” and all the other things on waypoint?

You mean an interactive walkthrough area before you jump into games? Maybe eventually, games, t.v.'s and the such would have to adopt a 3-d environment, but games of campaign and multiplayer only could very well get into this. I like the idea, but right now, its just not feasible. Good innovation for the future though.

Like an RPG. Only this isn’t an RPG. Standard menus work best to get the game moving. Now if the social party leader decides to activate a pre-game launch lobby I’d be cool with that. As long as it isn’t mandatory.

Sounds like a cool idea, but i don’t see them using it at all. I also wouldn’t enforce it.

I’m honestly surprised by the comments here, because this idea sounds absolutely terrible.

id like it because i could walk around the ship

It would be interesting (they could put easter eggs in), but from a UI perspective, it wouldn’t be very convenient.

I think the Idea would be beast, you could configure your home area the way you want, have a barracks area for you and your friends, or your own personal room with…say…some of your own personal Spartan Armor customization’s…trophies for weekly or even monthly events (hell, even tourney’s maybe)

Would also be fantastic for machinima purposes.

A shooting range or practice room with some friends to hone skills before fighting players and really putting that skill to use. Customization area (think of the garage Tony Stark had when he would be putting on his Iron Man suit, same for your mjolnir armor getting put on and modified, as well as for guns.

Also, possible moments where you could explore the ships, go to secret area’s, get bit’s of classified intel or easter eggs.

The possibilities for this concept are superb and I, for one, would love to see this implemented (that and my entire clan agree’s, would be great to have team or clan barracks) hell, even have Waypoint in a hologram table or something similar to have sitreps, review maps, or even go to ready rooms for 1v1’s, 2v2’s, or SQUADvSQUAD, or TEAMvTEAM…drools

That would be exciting the first few times it happened then it would just become time consuming and boring.

defenitly this you go into your locker or bunk or whatever check out your medals achievments etc, have some sort of bulliten board for challenges and custom challenges (hopefully they bring them back) have an armory for editing your armor and loadouts colors and emblem

BioShock 2 did something similar to this, and its MP was pretty broken. Not just for this reason, of course.

The problem with this is it detracts from the core function of a menu of just being a list of options. Sure, it looks more interesting, but it’s ultimately time and energy and resources and money that could be spent elsewhere, not on the unnecessary 3D rendering of a spaceship interior with 4th-wall-breaking doors.

So what, when we’re in Theatre we have our S-IV sat on a couch and using the remote whenever we manipulate the film?

yo dog we herd u liek gaming

This. It would take a lot longer than simply clicking your way through a menu. When I boot up a game, I wanna play, not trot through some environment just to get to where I want to go. Plus, the load times on this would likely be annoyingly long.

It would sorta be like (Yea no relation at all but) Lego Star Wars, were you had to walk into a room to do a mission, and I dont think this would work really well with a first person game. Third person games generally do this though. (like I said, Lego Star Wars)

Care to explain why it would be terrible?
