With todays update im left with a bad feeling with how this update is and all I can think of is how misleading 343’s august update blog was
“Were moving away from seasons to series”
“And then comes the seasoning. Well, not seasoning, we just said we’re getting rid of that”
“we are giving you the ability to change the main menu background video and set it to any one of your favorites from the past.”
These are staments 343 has made in the past
That I wanna elaborate on like why make a big deal of seasons to series if you arent adding new series, why move away if you are only adding content to the exchange, its misleading as i didnt realize not only is it exchange only, but no new content for unlock on launch day?
When you say change the main menu background i take it youre aware of the communitys request for the legacy main menus in mcc, was dissapointed to see its only MCC menus when 343 knows this isint what the community wants
I wanted to be able to grind on my own terms not make it a chore to grab this new content that doesent start releasing until next week, i wouldve thought with how little content is coming out in halo infinite they would at least give us a grind in mcc but they continue to spread out little content in long periods instead on large drops
Since theres no real series to grind and and know new content like halo infinite I will not be returning for this update as theyve made it feel like a chore instead of a grind on your own terms
Ps. Still no file size increase
And nobody wanted moa collectables in the first place
Another catch, since there’s no new Series and instead it’s in the exchange, it will cost more. 2 points per piece instead of 1 because they feel we have too many points and will be given points after level 100.
I genuinely didn’t expect a downside on this update.
343 knows how unhappy the fan base is with halo infinites storefront, fans are unhappy with the ammount of content coming to halo infinite so i dont get how 343 could repeat the same mistake here with mcc with the new content coming to the exchange instead of a series which they hyped up the change as a big deal this was an opportunity to bring a substantial ammount of content to halo thats lacking instead to not even release any on launch day but make us make weeks like halo infinites worst trend
Genuinely baffled why they bothered renaming seasons to series if they were just going to add stuff in the exchange, like you said. It’ll be very annoying to unlock everything.
Why 343 made it so everything is in the exchange is such a baffling decision to me. Like did they not think players wouldn’t be at the very least annoyed and at worst angry that they can’t access any of the new content when the update drops?
Even with them adding all the items into the exchange there are better ways of implementing the whole system. The exchange as a whole has needed a re-work for a while, and they could have even just did a simple change to the exchange to just make all of the items available to purchase whenever the player has the points (along with the previous seasonal content that still hasn’t made its way back in). Players would still have to grind the points out (which will be made easier when they tweak the amount of points players get), but they’d be able to pick and choose what to unlock and when, not the current drip feeding FOMO garbage system we have now.
The thing I don’t understand is why 343 doesn’t let players earn more in the exchange at a time if not all previously released content in it? I honestly don’t see how this benefits the players or even 343 other than it adds an unnecessary FOMO effect into the game, which still makes no sense as there isn’t any monetary value to anything in it for 343.
It makes me believe 343 is just seeing if the hate for mtx’s for MCC dies down as they still haven’t said they aren’t fully scrapping the idea and then maybe throwing them in later when people get more complacent. This is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why the exchange as a whole is just overall bad the way it’s setup now.
Just counted every new piece for Halo 2A, 94 items, easily a season/series right there, that’s counting armor, poses and the weapon skins (looks nice btw); but all of that is categorized for the exchange
If every item is 2 points, 188 points for everything in this update, and that is IF the skins doesn’t cost 3 because i think they will. 2 Seasons/Series worth of points and that wouldn’t be a problem if it was just Series 9 with every tier being 1 point.
Im suprised nobody finds it at all offputting that 343 even considered adding microtransactions to games they didnt even create, bungie created the originals and i just find it off a company wants to make more money off of another companys work even though the halo brand is Microsoft, the only way i woupd be ok with microtransactions is if it gives 343 incentive to continue with better updates and series but thats only my desperate hope they woupd actually listen to some of this stuff
Because of everytime a fan speaks up about what they hate and what they want they get offended and mad and probably choose not to do what the fan wants, you know modders found in halo infinites files a tagline for season 1 called moochers of reach, after that i realized they disrespect the fanbase and i lost faith for 343 after that
since everything is in the exchange, it will take weeks to unlock everything. Kind of gives me the impression they are drip feeding this content to tie everyone up to the next update.
Hate is only one word that comes to mind.
Having read whats changed makes me fear that halo is veing destroyed on purpose.
Most of us didnt like infinite, so came here to escape the chaos they created, now they bring those terrible things here to finish us off.
Very disappointed with everything I experienced since the update so far.
I would be happy with this update if all of the new customization items were available at launch. Sadly, it seems that 343 has taken the liberty of locking everything behind the exchange and charging more points than they usually do.
Yeah, I’m thinking that this is just part of a grand plan to force microtransactions of any kind into MCC. It’s quite possible, likely even, that they decided that they’re going to go for it and not give one iota for what the players think.
Even in the beyond hypothetical scenario where they may reverse that decision, they’ve developed a track record of not knowing how to implement features without explicit instruction. So, I’m going to create a numbered list of actions that they can take to make the challenge system and the overall process of earning points easier and player friendly. I encourage anyone and everyone to make numbered lists because that will be the easiest thing that they can process.
Move all Exchange Content from the Exchange into a 9th Series following Series 8: Mythic. There’s enough content within previous exchange stores plus items from the August update to fill at least 50 tiers if not 100.
Make everything cost 1 season point. 1 season point. That is how much most series items cost with a few exceptions, but that should be the normal price for all items.
Increase the durations of the tactical exercises. Make them last for two months instead of one month. And make them earn 5 season points each, rather than 2.
Double the amount of experience points earned in all weekly PvE and PvP challenges. Make all gold challenges earn 2 points, and all normal challenges earn 1 point.
Reimplement campaign experience. Since we can now earn spartan points by leveling up, there should be more ways to earn experience points in PvE outside of challenges and firefight. Here’s an example scaling in parenthesis that I would like to see.
With how much experience points is needed to reach the max social rank, I think that this scaling is perfectly reasonable. It would encourage players to challenge themselves on higher difficulties and make their efforts feel more worthwhile.
If 343 does not do either some or all of these steps, I can only conclude that 343 is intentionally making earning spartan points more difficult. And on top of that, making each point less valuable by making everything more expensive. What conclusion can one come to other than that this is a strategy for 343 to force people who play MCC into microtransactions of any kind?
You keep throwing this out there. But there are Legendary campaign missions you can finish in 5 minutes.
Meaning people could earn millions of XP an hour. And reach max rank within days.
What would make sense to implement instead would be a system similar to Halo Reach’s commendations for campaigns.
The only reason I can think they are spread out this customization the way it is, is for us to come back every week to play the game and keep the population up. If they just introduced everything now, everyone would unlock everything in one to two days and everyone won’t come back until the next major update for the game.
I strongly dislike how EVERYTHING is in the exchange now. Keeps people logging in weekly sure, and getting your 10 points a week to empty the exchange out is… honestly, kinda’ child’s play.
But it’s agonizing and feels like a way to make people WANT to buy.
